Cardiff City manager Russell Slade comments on West Ham United-owned Ravel Morrison
Thursday 20th Nov 2014
West Ham United-owned Ravel Morrison’s future remains uncertain as Cardiff City manager Russell Slade seems non-committal.
Let’s make one thing clear: Ravel Morrison is no ‘boy wonder’. He is just another overhyped and overrated young player whose few good games threw him into the limelight.
And now his future is uncertain.
Morrison is currently on loan at Cardiff City and is scheduled to return to West Ham United in late December.
The England Under-21 international has not impressed so far at the Cardiff City Stadium, starting just once in the Championship and making five substitute appearances.
In six league appearances for the Bluebirds so far this campaign, Morrison has created five chances and has a 90% pass accuracy, but no goal.
Cardiff manager Russell Slade has said that the 21-year-old midfielder remains part of his plans for the next five matches, but he seems non-committal thereafter.
“It’s been a bit stop-start with Rav,” he told WalesOnline. “He has had a knee injury which has plagued him.
“Whenever he has opened his knee up it caused him a problem, but he has trained a little more consistently recently. That won’t do him any harm.
“There is no question he is in my plans for the remaining matches. He has about a month left on his loan and we will make a decision when that spell is coming to an end.”
Slade is not the first football manager to speak highly of Morrison’s ability, but for one reason or the other the youngster has failed to live up to expectations.
Offloaded by Manchester United and not maintaining consistency at West Ham, Morrison is truly struggling to make an impression these days.
Injuries have not helped, but after all this time, one has to wonder whether he really has what it takes to play for a big team in a big league.
Perhaps like many other youngsters before him, Morrison’s ‘fame’ is built on a few good games…

Morrison has quality and the ability to be as good sterling. No way is he a one trick pony... We just don't have the staff to get the best out of him....

Tony Robbins couldn't get the best out of him. he is a lost cause, it's all too easy for Rav. I don't see a guy knuckling down. fergie failed, fat sam failed and now Russell Who.....
IMO Daehli is a little lost at the moment, we should be getting him into the fold quickly, because this guy is not a lost cause. He tries...........He will be a very good player and have a great career.

I don't think he will have as good a career as sterling. Ravel seems to lack the drive to make the most out if his talent.
There is no doubt he is more than good enough for a place is slades starting XL though.

I think little 'Rav' has'nt quite grown up yet, think he's a typical gangsta type,a little talented lad with a massive attitude, until he shakes off the big chip on his shoulder then he's not going to get very far in life, hope he can sort himself out soon hopefully while he's with us

I think that he needs a run in the team. Not on the bench but 3/4 starts to see what he can do. He was outstanding when he made his debut off the bench against Sheff Weds and has hardly had a look in since.

I agree. If he's fit give him a run of 3/4 games & then the manager & the fans can judge.
