Proud Welshman Pulis has urged the Potters skipper to join Chris Coleman's upwardly mobile side.
Stoke captain Ryan Shawcross has been urged by former manager Tony Pulis to switch his international allegiance and play for Wales.
The centre-back has made just one appearance for England in their 4-2 defeat to Sweden in 2012, but as that was only a friendly he is still eligible to represent the country for whom he played as a schoolboy.
Shawcross has always maintained he has no interest in switching, but Welshman Pulis believes the 27-year-old should realistically consider the move if he wants to play international football.
"I'm convinced he should be in the England squad and if that's not going to happen then my attentions would be turned to crossing the border," the former Potters boss told The Sentinel.
"If England don't think he's good enough, Wales certainly do. I know that for a fact."
Pulis added: "He would be joining a Wales team with a genuine chance of qualifying for Euro 2016, so there's some big games to be had if he made that choice.
"I still think his best years are ahead of him. I'd be disappointed if Ryan thinks he's reached the top of his performance levels because he has still to reach his peak and should become better over the next four or five years."
Wales, second in their Euro 2016 qualifying group, are in with a good chance of reaching their first major tournament since the 1958 World Cup.
Their 0-0 draw with Belgium last Sunday put them in second place in Group B behind Israel.

As much as it's only papers and opinion I Wouldn't be happy with this. I can remember him in the victory shield games playing for us and when he broke into the stoke team I thought we had a good player on our hands only for him to pledge for England. There seems to be a great spirit in the wales camp at the moment and I don't think it would be beneficial to go cap in hand for someone who we would clearly be his second choice of country to play for. Stick with what we've got they are playing well and playing for each other no need to alter it.

Thanks... But No Thanks! We have a settled group of players, who are willing to work their asses off for the badge at the moment. Our Under 18s and Under 16s are going places also, we are currently on the Up, and shouldn't pay second fiddle to any team.

I was wondering how long it would be until some players suddenly find that they have welsh routes. Personally the squad needs to be strengthened as much as possible so all top level additions can only be a good thing.
Just want a striker to suddenly see that he has welsh grandparents. Lol

No end off. Proud Englishman and I respect his decision to say no and I'm glad.

Nope... We already have 4 decent centre backs. Chester is playing outstanding. We have dummett equally performing well. Collins still doing well at club and Ashley Williams. He tuned us down before so no thanks...

Do we want him to jump on the band wagon ? he made his decision along with Ben Turner they (i believe) both stated they do not feel Welsh so end of matter as far as I am concerned.
It also begs the question is Shawcross agent behind this ?

We dont need him as, we have the quite capable James Chester.

I'm sure he did whatever the victory shield is under 15s or 16s or perhaps schoolboys or it was another Shaw cross at centre half. Not that it matters still don't want him.

No he shouldn't.
"Shawcross has always maintained he has no interest in switching, but Welshman Pulis believes the 27-year-old should realistically consider the move if he wants to play international football."
This is whats wrong with football these days. Piss off, unless the guy really wanted to represent our country at the first time of asking then he can do one.
Wed Nov 19, 2014 8:52 pm
He can do one, you play for Wales your considered Welsh, especially as he's initially turned us down and said he's English
Wed Nov 19, 2014 9:36 pm
No thank you we have enough english players as it is. He made his bed so lie in it.
Wed Nov 19, 2014 9:58 pm
He could be captain.....
Wed Nov 19, 2014 10:32 pm
you shouldn't have to persuade and convince someone to play for wales, if they don't want to join then thats that.

Bang on.
Even if he doesn't get the chance, he didn't accept the easy route.

Jordan Rhodes?
If I could wish any footballer to be Welsh it wouldn't be a championship striker!

He's easily be our best centre back, I'd definitely take him.
