The 11 for the Reading game?

Tue Nov 18, 2014 8:32 pm

These would be my choise:

----------------Marshall-----------------

Brayford - Connolly - Morrison - Fabio

Noone - Whittingham - Gunnarsson - Dæhli

-----------------Ravel-------------------

-----------------Jones-------------------

Bench: Moore, Turner, John, Adeyemi, Pilkington, Le Fondre, Guerra

But I guess Slade will pick:

----------------Marshall-----------------

Connolly - Morrison - Turner - Fabio

Noone - Whittingham - Gunnarsson - Pilkington

-------- Jones-----Le Fondre-------

Bench: Moore, Brayford, Gabbidon, Adeyemi, Ravel, Macheda, Maynard

Ralls has been included in the squad ever since Slade took over, but I think he might be dropped now unless he chooses only one striker on the bench.

Why do you think he will drop macheda?

Macheda has put a few, but otherwise seemed a bit daff. Slade wants muscles, and Jones is up for it, I think. Besides, he just scored 3 goals for his country. But nothing much to it, just a wild guess.

Ravel behind Jones? Did you watch the Blackpool game? You need a clever striker, making runs playing off a number 10 like ravel and daehli. Guerra or le fondre would be cut out for it.

Spot on. People need to understand Jones is ineffective without someone with movement up there with him imo. ..

Not so sure that´s necessarily the case. I remember Jones and Dæhli linking up quite well in some games, and being big doesn´t mean you cannot pic a run. But he´s on and off, to be honest, but then again, who is our squad is not. All the runs do not need to come from him, however. Let the midfielders go on deep runs. Gunnars can do that, so can Noone, and even Ravel when Dæhli is cutting inside. I would consider, however, replacing Whittingham with Adeyemi for such a line-up, or having them both on the pich with Whittingham and Dæhli alternating on the nr 10 role.

Is that a 4-4-1-1 or 4-2-3-1?

Knowing that Jones is not back in Wales yet, I think you´re right. He will put on the same line-up as for the other home matches, except that Turner is coming in for injured Manga. Connolly on the bench, Dæhli and Guerra watching from elsewhere.
