Don't they have their dad's first name as their surname with son on the end? So gunnarsons dad's first name in theory should. Be gunnar and sigurdssons dad's first name should be sigurd. I may not be completely right but I know there's something like that.

That´s right. It used to be the same in the other Scandinavian countries, but only Iceland held on to this patronymic tradition.
