Watch the future stars in action now!

Cardiff City FC's U21 development side return to league action at Cardiff City Stadium to take on Huddersfield Town on Monday evening, 7pm.

Nilton Terroso's team came back from two goals down at the break to defeat Charlton Athletic at the Valley last week (Report), and will be hoping to build on the impressive second half display shown in that match.

The U21 side have only been defeated once in league action this season, with an unbeaten record in the Welsh Capital City.

Town are known for their consistency at U21 level, having topped the Northern section for the past two consecutive seasons - a position they currently occupy having only been defeated once themselves this term.

Should you wish to come down and watch our Future City Stars in action, there will be no charge on this occasion with FREE entry and car parking for all.

Full Report

17/11/14

Three goals in as many second-half minutes secured another win for Town’s Development Squad in the latest Professional Development League 2 game of the season at Cardiff City this evening.

First year Academy striker Rekeil Pyke led the way, celebrating his first start at Under-21 level with his first goals; a second-half brace that turned the tide in Town’s favour.

A first-half penalty had given hosts Cardiff the lead at the interval, but Pyke’s double – later added to by Joe Lolley – secured another win; the eighth in 10 games for Frankie Bunn’s side.

Town played two overage players in the game, with Adam Hammill making his second start as he continued his return to fitness alongside Lolley. Otherwise, only midfielders Duane Holmes and Philip Billing had any First Team experience.

Bunn was also without the services of Under-21 regulars Jordan Sinnott, Flo Bojaj and Ben Holmes through injury, hence starts for Academy scholars Pyke and defender Jacob Hanson.

The Terriers were bright in the early stages of the game, with big centre back Joe Wright hitting the crossbar with a towering header before midfielder Sondre Tronstad had a volley tipped onto the woodwork by home goalkeeper Charlie Horton.
Cardiff grew into the half and took the lead 10 minutes before the interval. Hanson brought down Macauley Southam to concede a penalty, which Wales Under-21 midfielder Tommy O’Sullivan converted.

However, it was all Town after the half-time break. Pyke opened his account in the 50th minute, heading home a free-kick, before the powerful teenage striker put Town in front barely two minutes later by seizing upon a handling error from the Cardiff ‘keeper.

It was three just a minute later when Hammill embarked on a superb forward run, with Lolley volleying home a rebound after the custodian had saved Adam’s initial effort.

Holmes almost made it four with just over 10 minutes to go after a good driving run from Lolley, but the Academy graduate’s shot was cleared off the line.

The win keeps Town’s Under-21s top of the Professional Development League 2 North table.

I was in Cardiff and thought I'd take my first look at our development side , as they have been doing so well this season
I missed the first 20 minutes due to traffic ,
But from what I saw was a very slick , pacey , competent Huddersfield side who completely outplayed Cardiff , their passing and movement was excellent
Cardiff's general play was laboured and not that convincing , with an alarming amount of poor technique resulting in lost possession far to often
Cardiff scored a penalty against the run play and led at half time
It took two howlers from our keeper to put Huddersfield in front , a lead they thoroughly deserved
Cardiff made some substitutions and improved slightly and did manage finally to put some pressure on the Huddersfield defence with some goalmouth scrambles ........
But overall a very disappointing performance against an accomplished Huddersfield team that won nearly all of the 50/50 challenges
On this game we lacked physical presence in both boxes especially against bigger/taller opponents and rarely troubled them
I hope its just a one off poor performance ,
Kadeem Harris has been touted on this forum to step up to first team level ....... he got subbed tonight and could not have any complaints
Sadly very few stand out players on view ....... namely ....... Oshilaja , Amondarain , O'Sullivan and sub Tutonda looks to have all the attributes to develop
I noticed how animated the Huddersfield coach was and often bellowing instructions to his team .......
compared to our coaches , Nilton Terroso and Quintin Fortune who were very quiet on the night
Maybe a bit harsh view on reflection , as the youngsters are learning the game , but it was similar to our senior players performance against Bournemouth
Final score ....... Cardiff 1 Huddersfield 3
