Some big away followings this weekend

Mon Nov 17, 2014 12:25 pm

Middlesbrough's claim to have put together the largest away following for a single Championship game this season was quickly blown out of the water yesterday.

The club posted a message on their official Twitter feed, boasting of selling out their 4,800 tickets for the upcoming game away to Wigan Athletic.

Boro have sold their entire 4,800 ticket allocation for Wigan. The largest away following in the Championship by any team so far this season

They were quickly forced into issuing a correction, after a Leeds United fan pointed out the Yorkshire side have in fact gone over that, by quite a distance.

@adamwallywalton Just been told they're into their second allocation for Blackburn and have sold around 5,700.

Later in the day, the official Leeds United Twitter account took it upon themselves to talk up their travelling fans.

According to website the72.co.uk, Leeds United have the second highest away attendance on average in the Championship so far this season, behind Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Middlesbrough rank seventh, with Bournemouth the lowest.
