' EXIT DOOR FOR RAVEL MORRISON? '

Sat Nov 15, 2014 8:07 pm

Saturday 15th November 2014

Cardiff City will decide later this month whether to give Ravel Morrison another chance to fulfil his potential after a disappointing spell on loan at the Championship club.

Manager Russell Slade has not been impressed with the former Manchester United midfielder’s attempt to kick-start his career since his arrival in September. He had lost his way at West Ham and was told by Sam Allardyce that the move to Cardiff would be his last chance.

Slade will decide this month whether or not to ask Allardyce to extend the England Under-21 player’s loan spell, but unless he starts to see the sort of form that once impressed Sir Alex Ferguson, the Cardiff manager may well let Morrison go.

Slade said: “There’s no doubt that Ravel has got bags of ability. He has been at Manchester United and West Ham under great managers and with quality players all around him. But it has not quite happened for him. He still has not fulfilled the potential he has shown and the ability he has got.”

A knee injury has not helped Morrison, who produced a fine 25-minute cameo on his debut against Sheffield Wednesday in September, but he has started only once in eight games since and hasn’t scored.

The lad needs to be given a run of games, Ravel, is pure quality.

i hope so too. injuries have meant his time here has been stop start but if he starts playing regularly and with confidence he is much better than the other players we have :ayatollah:

Spot on. If Slade did come out with comments like that it would prove he hasn't got a clue. He has not had a chance to impress. You cannot impress when you are on the bench week in week out.

On his first performance against Sheffield Weds he was sheer class, better than any other player on the pitch. Premiership quality. It looks as if Slade cannot see quality if it snacks him in the face. He is neglecting the quality players.

Lets be faire the guy hasn't been given enough games to get match fit, being fit and being match fit is 2 different things .
He needs more game time, not just coming on for the last 15mins

Spot on, also includes Guerra, Daelhi, and Kimbo. Good players that need a few games to get to their best but Slade is neglecting them. Sometimes players don't show in training what they are truly capable of in a competitive match. :(

If Sir Alex and Sam Allardyce can't get the best out of him, then we must accept that he is a flawed personality who can't fulfill his potential. I think he may need a psychologist rather than a manager to get the best out of him.

Slade is the manager and it is up to him, as long as he gets the results on the pitch then his decisions will then be correct :thumbright:

' Make Or Break For Morrison '

Vital Football

Sunday 16th Nov 2014

Ravel Morrison is facing a crucial period, perhaps not only in determining what happens with his time with Cardiff but also in football as a whole.

Morrison, who was cleared of any wrong doing recently in his latest off the field activity that has often plagued his career, comes to the end of his originally agreed loan spell with the Bluebirds later this month with Russell Slade then deciding what the future holds for him.

Slade's admitted that it 'has not quite happened for him' with us so and perhaps the 'bags of ability' that the England U21 international has isn't going to be enough to see his Cardiff City Stadium spell extended.

In defence of Morrison he wouldn't be alone in not producing the good for us this season.

An early appearance in his loan was encouraging but he's struggled for form and involvement since, a knee injuries also hampered him and that hasn't helped but now it's down to Morrison to produce his best in training and then perform if he's given a chance in his final game, or two, that he'll have from this spell.

If he can then he will, rightfully, have that loan extended but if not it'll be game over for him not only with Cardiff, probably with his parent club West Ham United too, and he'll be back to square one looking to get his career back on track again.

What happens with Morrison away from the pitch has all too often detracted from his ability on it, it's up to him if he wants his ability to go to waste or not? If he doesn't then we could benefit immensely from this but at the moment it seems unlikely that he'll be a Bluebird for much longer.

See how things pan out now but if we don't get the results or make the play offs as a minimum, if slade let daehli ravel and guerra go or didn't involve them, then that will show him to be clueless and just a league 1 manager.. let results be the judge

Re: ' RUSSELL SLADE DECIDES ON RAVEL MORRISON '

Also another quality player who won't fit into Russell rigid 4 4 2.. I'm he should set his formation to his players strengths ravel number 10,daehli wide as an inside forward and guerra or someone else as a lone striker

Does ravel want to stay here? I mean he isn't played much, I am sure there are other clubs that would take him on . Can't imagine he wants to sit on the bench all season.

I read an article that we are looking to terminate his contact sooner as Russell hasnt been impressed - Who knows if its true but I doubt he will get much game time here so may as well send him back sadly.

Ravel Morrison

By Simon Gaskell

Cardiff City boss Russell Slade may decide to let the midfielder leave after admitting it has 'not quite happened for him'

Cardiff City are reportedly considering letting Ravel Morrison leave the club after Russell Slade admitted things hadn't worked out as hoped for the midfielder.

According to the The Independent, the Bluebirds will decide later this month whether to give Ravel Morrison another chance to fulfil his potential after a disappointing spell on loan so far.

The midfielder attempted to kick-start his career after arriving in September but has only made one start and four substitute appearances.

He had lost his way at West Ham and was reportedly told by Sam Allardyce that the move to Cardiff would be his last chance.

It is understood Slade will decide this month whether or not to ask Allardyce to extend the England Under-21 player’s loan spell - but could well let him go unless his form improves.

Slade is quoted saying: “There’s no doubt that Ravel has got bags of ability. He has been at Manchester United and West Ham under great managers and with quality players all around him.

"But it has not quite happened for him.

"He still has not fulfilled the potential he has shown and the ability he has got.”
