Who would you have as your first choice centre back partnership?
Manga - looks the real deal, reads the game well, good on the ball, strong and Athletic and is no slouch. Bolton game aside ( we can let him off that one )has been superb.
Morrison - has looked very strong in some games but weak in others and has made errors, still learning.
Connolly - A real steady edy whenever called upon, was immense on the opening day of the season. Has his limitations but great attitude and rarely lets you down.
Turner - often criticised for his ball distribution but as a centre back does what it says on the tin, strong no nonesense fit and excellent defender at this level. Huge plaudits at the beginning of the prem season but faded with his team.
My choice is Manga snd Turner, time will tell if that partnership is given the opportunity. I think they will complement each other

Manga and turner

No competition for me.
Manga and Turner.

mango and turner

Manga and Turner
For his faults when the ball is at his feet, Turner is an excellent defender at championship level.
I would also start Connolly before Morrison

Manga and Connolly. The latter was maybe our best player before he got injured and as a CB he has been outstanding every time he has been playing.

Hard to argue with your assessment, but the question after his last appearance at Birmingham is, will Slade continue with Connolly at right back?

Manga, Turner and Connolly for me. I would play with a back 3 and use Fabio and Brayford as wing backs.

Manga turner

I would have like to have seen Manga and Connolly given a go in recent weeks, with Turner to come in if Connolly couldnt keep up his previous good form.

Good questions, actually. Brayford has been alright this season, but not brilliant, imo.

I'd love to see Manga & Cala play together but that will never happen - unfortunate since Cala has only ever shown extreme passion playing for us.

Manga and Connolly would be my choice.

ironic that in the summer this was the position most feared about, but IMHO it's our strongest area.
Manga and Turner would be my starting pair.
I rate Turner highly and don't care that sometimes his passes go astray. Defensively he is a rock, positionally he's very good- although can still improve as he's still fairly young, he's rarely beaten in the air, strong in the tackle, hardly ever fouls or get's beaten for pace.
Manga has been immense since he came, although not as good in the air as Turner, he's excellent on the deck and i love the way he nipsd in in front of the striker to take the ball off him. his fellow centre half though needs to be aware of this and ready to cover if the striker is strong enough to 'roll him'.
Connolly has hardly put a foot wrong, is decent on the deck and reasonably quick. I can see why some would have him, however like Cala he lacks the physical presence required against the big target men.
Morrison has had a few shaky games, but is young and is also settling in. He's probably better on the ball than Turner, although as a result of a bit more confidence he sometimes gives it away in dangerous areas (in comparison to Turner losing it with long hopeful balls. I've still got no problem with this guy starting if Turner or Manga is injured.
Cala can also do a job given a run of games.
Tonteg's idea of 3 centre halfs isn't a bad one, however we would have needed to have trained with this set up for some time to get the players settled in to it. Also not sure if we'd get the quality of delivery from Brayford as a wing back and this might suit Pilkington more. it would certainly suit Fabio. Would be difficult to see how Noone would fit in with this system, but may mean room in the middle for Morrison or Daehli -it's criminal not to be able to fit either in at the moment.
More concerned about how poor our strikers have been, lack of options out wide and lack of 'fit' cover for Gunnar.

Was Turner captain last Sat ?
I noticed him taking off a black armband as he came off the pitch, not sure if this was to do with Rememberance Day or not though.

I don't think so, as Marshall was playing. I guess it was just a black armband for respect.
I think he should be the captain though, leave Marshall to do what he does best.

And now manga is out in Jan who's your two?
Mon Nov 17, 2014 9:44 pm
Manga and Turner/Connolly, can't decide. Connolly it is.
Mon Nov 17, 2014 9:50 pm
Turner and Connolly for Jan for me! Both solid and experienced at this level.
Mon Nov 17, 2014 10:02 pm
Can't help but feel slade had missed a trick not allowing Manga and connolly a chance whole Turner was out.

Morrison & Manga
