Even more disturbing is the alleged way Van Gaal treats his wife, Truus:
"There’s plenty I don’t understand about Van Gaal but there was one thing that really set my teeth on edge when I was around him," writes Borst. "The way he treats Truus in the company of others is ungentlemanly and sometimes downright disgraceful...
"Having spoken to at least half a dozen people off the record, all of whom furnished me with a detailed account of these excruciating scenes, I know all I need to know. The common thread running through all these accounts is humiliation... [And] When Louis sneers at Truus, insults or humiliates her, there is always drink involved."
