Nathan Blak on Slade so far

Mon Nov 10, 2014 2:45 pm

I don't often agree with him but think he is spot on this time on Blakeys bottom
He said:
-The club is drifting, no long term planning, choosing chalk and cheese managers shows there is no long term planning.

-Young is not good enough to be the assistant coach at a club like Cardiff, tactically not good enough, need someone better. Not spoken to anyone who thinks Young is going places.

-Thinks Slade has been too hasty in choosing his group of 20. Should have spent more time assessing the players. Decided who is in and out during the international break. Cardinal mistake to listen to Gabbidon and Young, he should not listen to anyone else. He needs to take time to get to know the players and figure out whats going on with them. Great managers will get in your head and if players are not doing well manager finds out why it might be something thats going on outside of football.

-Disgrace to pull Guerra off after 30 min and put him on blast. Scapegoating

-Matts should be nurtured, needs to have a manager that doesnt pull him off or drops him as soon as he makes a mistake. If he plays a through ball that doesnt work, he should be encouraged to do it again and again till it works. He is there to do the difficult stuff, thats his job. With maturity and experience and a manager that believes in him he could be a 4-5 assist a month guy.

-Wrong to make Fabio the scapegoat at Bolton, Fabio was instrumental and set the tempo and tone in the home wins and if you go through the games you'd find that other players made as many mistake as Fabio at Bolton.
The trouble with scapegoating one player after a loss is that other players starts thinking will that happen to me too if i make mistake which isn't good for the team.

Gives Slade a C, average not great but not bad.

I can't believe that I agree with everything that Nathan Blake says in this article. Slade needs to take his time on reviewing the attributes of the players and not get pressured into making hasty decisions.
