" THE WORST PART OF THE DAY "

Sat Nov 08, 2014 7:10 pm

The worst part of our away days is the football :o

The craic on the coach, the pub stop and the journey home are always fun, the debates and the banter are second class among our regulars.

But the ninety minutes of football is hard to watch.

I don't know what Fabio did to be dropped, he wasn't injured otherwise he would not be on the bench.

The players tried a lot harder than I they did at Bolton but it still wasn't nowhere near the level it needed to be to beat a poor Birmingham, yes Birmingham have improved under their new manager but they really are a poor team.

I was hoping that Slade would have made changes in the midfield and up front to add creativity to a forward line that has been misfiring away from home badly.

We all would have loved to have gone into the international break with our first away win but it wasn't to be, we are not as good as we think we are and it is something Russell Slade must sort out fast, it is not his doing but he has taken the job and it has become his problem to overcome.

I wouldn't necessarily moan about fabio being dropped as we had a clean sheet. Having Ben Turner back was a plus point. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but we've been bullied by big strikers this year but big Ben went straight in and smashed him in the first half which is what we need. I think the only ones who had very poor games were pilks and noone. We should be beating Birmingham yes but we did actually create enough chances to win so I wouldn't blame the managers selection, just a lack of confidence from the strikers. However, Adam Le fondre ran himself into the ground today. He made those centre halves work even in the air despite his small statue. I'm disappointed in the result but not with the team or manager.

The problem is who could he pull off the bench that would make a difference, the players I thought would do something this year are not even on the bench, I respect trying to keep the changes to a minimum but Le Fondre could have had a couple today along with Macheda. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I've said before it is hard for me to complain when you guys go away to games. I can't exactly moan when I'm sitting here.

But imo he needs time. And ole got 9 months.

The thing is there is players that could offer something in the squad that Slade is just ignoring (Daeli,Ravel,Guerra to name a few)

Lets be honest the football today was painful at times,no creativity and no spark, saying that on reflection a point was ok after changing the back four and clearly missing jones's prescence up top.
Gunnarsson I thought battled and did his job very well and was my man of the match.Hope Russell takes advantage of the international break and gets the players grafting. Were a mid table side at the moment

Fabio despite being a great attacking and skillful player simply cannot defend at times and gets caught out of position way too many times ...... hence being dropped to the bench . If I was Slade then a new number 3 would be on my January shopping list .

Carl can't you just organise day trips and not bother with the football? Be one hell of a laugh!

Once again, a great day out was interrupted by a football match.

Away, I would put Whitts on the left and let fabio go on his runs. Whitts knows that position inside out and would cover fabio.
The diagonal ball to kenwyn will be a killer then...
