" Cardiff City boss Russell Slade slams 'soft' stars. "

By Terry Phillips

Struggling Bolton Wanderers put Cardiff City to the sword as Russell Slade's men stuttered to another away defeat. After the match the raging boss described some of his stars as soft.

Russell Slade slammed travel-sick Cardiff City as he watched his men offer up the worst performance of his reign to date.

And he blasted his “soft” stars for a dismal display at Bolton which he said he’d never saw coming.

Boss Slade had hoped for a first away win of the season, but instead watched in horror as a first-half double from Liam Feeney and a 76th minute strike from Matt Mills made it easy for the Macron Stadium hosts.

And he refused to go easy on his players as he revealed he was left “raging” in the dressing room and warned them far better will be needed for Saturday’s clash at Birmingham.

Liam Feeney scored twice for Bolton
Slade fumed: “At half-time I was raging inside. That was the most disappointed I’ve been and I wanted a reaction. We didn’t give up, which is perhaps the one positive – but it goes without saying it has to be better than that.

“You can’t turn it on like a tap and think you can start playing after 45 minutes. We lost too many battles, our decisions were poor and we allowed the ball to come into the box far too easily.” The performance is in stark contrast to Cardiff’s recent home offerings, and Slade added: “If I’m honest I didn’t see it coming. Sometimes in training you can see a lack of confidence but there was plenty of belief in that changing room and the preparation has gone as well as ever.

“But in that first period we had a soft underbelly and you can’t have that.”

Bolton boss Neil Lennon, however, backed Slade to get it right, claiming: “They are a strong team but a new manager, like myself, will be still trying to find his best team and best formation.”

Like picking the same 11 every time and sticking to 4-4-2 home and away against whatever opponent?

The only consistency that matters is getting results on the pitch

Yes, but it´s not "still trying to find his best team and best formation". That part seems to already be done.
