Will you take 3 from 6

Sun Nov 02, 2014 9:23 pm

I posted last week 6 points from 9 would be great. I stand by that even with half the job done. Bolton will be fired up under Lennon and brum gave a great example ov this division holding wolves away after losing by 8 at home. Both will be fancying a win over a team with a dreadful away record and against lower opposition! We are an improving team, but would you take 3 points?

No but I think it would be a good return.

Love to see us beat Bolton and go to brum in confident mood!

Bolton will be an interesting game to see if Slade has learn't from Millwall. If he has and the players respond we could quite easily take all 6 points from these 2 away games coming up.

Spot on.,

This might sound strange, but I would rather draw twice, (and get two points), than win one and lose one, and get three points.

Reason being, simply, that I don't like losing. Also, we need to get used to getting something from away games.

I was going to post some people actually prefer two draws! Simple maths!

I know! But travelling home from an away game, having lost, is no fun. :bluescarf:

that's stupid as we will only get 2 points that way :?: If we win and lose we will get 3 points (therefore further up the table ) I would rather win and lose if I had to choose between the 2

In a strange way I can see his point. We have a dreadful away record and would getting 2 points and getting an unbeaten run going gathering momentum blah blah blah be better long term than getting a win and draw short term but showing up our inconsistencies away from home in the long term. Easier to hope for two wins and be greedy I suppose and everyone is happy.

There was nothing wrong with the first half with Millwall for me. Felt like we were very much in the game and looked the better by a fair bit. Only once we conceded Millwall upped the tempo.

Manager Russell Slade was delighted to see Cardiff pick up their third consecutive home victory but now he knows we have to improve our away form as well.

Three on the trot at home came courtesy of goals from Ecuele Manga, Macheda and Jones and speaking to the Official Site the gaffer admitted the first half was pretty much a non event, but he was delighted with the second half.

'I'm pleased. It was a bit of a non event first half in many ways. I don't think anyone expected that in the second half! It was an entertaining game for the right reasons from our point of view. The players put in a really good shift - particularly second half when we needed to find a little bit more energy, a little bit more intensity. We found that - the front two led by example I felt, putting the Leeds defence under more pressure.'

Having broken the deadlock, Slade went on to say that he knew it was very important for the side to remain compact and disciplined, and at that stage he felt we continued doing the right things, not sitting back, but keeping them under pressure and of course the margin became more secure in the game as a result of that.

As for the half time substitution of Anthony Pilkington, the gaffer revealed that ahead of the game he had been feeling ill and was really feeling the effects of that around the 30 minute mark, so having made it till half time it was only right to bring him off.

The only real disappointment from the match that he picked up on was us not keeping the clean sheet but he knows that will come as we continue to improve further.

With a good home form behind him since arriving as our manager, he also made the comment about wanting to see our away form improve now as well.

'It's a great start, we need to address our away from and pick up points away from home. It's a very fine line in this league between winning, drawing and losing. All teams are capable of victory on their day. My philosophy will be to win the next two games.'

Following the match the club also released a statement concerning Kenwyne Jones as he has unfortunately suffered a family tragedy, and the club wished to ask everyone - press included - to give him time and space and respect his and his families privacy during this time.

This is why I would take 3 from 6 this division is renowned for being hard away and coupled with our dreadful away form! Sides steam in to us away and we can't deal with it! Some people are expecting to much away from home! Bloody annoyed!

Lennon was always going to have them fired up and it will be the same Saturday! Not end of world, were losing a game by two away!

I told you it's no fun travelling home after losing away! Got home about half an hour ago. As for your original question, Yes!

Haha credit to you mate but imagine your travelling home from somewhere at the end of the season having needed a point for automatic promotion & we missed out due to your idea of preferring 2 points instead of 3!!
I think you'd be a little more pissed off than you are now!

That's very true. In the cold light of day, I can see your point. Three points at St Andrew's on Saturday will reinforce it still further! :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

The question surely is why hasn't Slade managed to get our players just as "fired up" as the supposedly inferior opposition and will he be able to do so on Saturday?

You'd think after all those years in management he'd have learned that you have to deal with such things.
