Whilst Cardiff vs Leeds always brings up memories of Scott Young and that famous FA Cup game, I also think of Koumas' first debut for us, against Leeds at Ninian Park, where even though he wasn't fully fit, he came off the bench and controlled the game.
He really was far too good to be in the Championship at that time - it's such a shame that his career never hit the heights it probably should have.

Spot on Barry.
He was different class that season and scored some spectacular goals, including that winner against Leeds.
I think if we'd managed to buy him at the end of that season we may have been promoted a few seasons sooner than we were.
Remember there was talk of a consortium of businessmen all contributing towards the cost of buying him from WBA?

I was working abroad when Koumas came so missed his input.
Listening to everyone when I finally returned about him I was really excited about his return to us. Well he was to say the least disappointing. However that free kick goal at Doncaster made up for a lot.

i think he is one of the rare "loan market success stories"
he was absolute quality on the ball, and its sad to see where he ended up

In Steven Gerrard's autobiography he describes Koumas as a Special talent and should have been one of the best.

Whipped a top free kick in away that season as well, IMO our most natural talent.
Midfield of Koumas, Ramsey, Kav and Whitts would be too much technique!

I was right behind that goal he scored at Leeds. It was going in from the moment it left his boot. Loved it. I really thought we were going to make a push for it that season after that game.

One of the very rare times under Dave Jones that we came back to win after going behind.

All the talent, couldn't beat the demons.

Gambling, alcohol, over indulgence in nightlife and maybe a bit of okey cokey on occasion will do that to a footballer

one of the most memorable nights as a city fan
