Leeds haven't won at Cardiff City in 30 years

Thu Oct 30, 2014 7:40 pm

The last time Leeds United won at Cardiff City was back in 1984 when George McCluskey scored an 87th-minute winner.

It has been 30 years since the Whites last picked up a win in the league from their visit to the Bluebirds.

But would this truly dire record really affect the current bunch of Leeds players when they take on Cardiff at the Cardiff City Stadium in the Championship on Saturday?

No.

This is a young and vibrant Leeds team, and the players are hardly going to read up the results between the West Yorkshire outfit and Cardiff over the last 30 years.

Just because Leeds have not won at Cardiff for three decades does not mean that they cannot win on Saturday.

If Neil Redfearn’s team does fail to pick up three points in the Welsh capital, then it will not be because of any ‘curse’ but because of the players’ failure on the day.

Previous meetings and results look very fascinating when reading a match preview, but the truth of the matter is that they mean essentially nothing.
