Blackpool have parted company with Jose Riga after Chairman Karl Oyston said the two sides had failed to patch up their differences. In one of the shortest, and sadly for Riga most unsuccesful spells, as manager at Bloomfield Road, the Belgian only won one of his fourteen games in charge whilst exiting to Shrewsbury in the League Cup. His dismissal comes following the Seasiders 3-0 defeat at Reading on Saturday.
There has been speculation in the media over the weekend that Blackpool have lined up Lee Clark as his successor following his dismissal by Birmingham last week.Karl Oyston had previously approached Owen Coyle and Gary Rowett about taking the job, but both turned down the opportunity, with the latter appointed by Birmingham on Monday afternoon. The Seasiders confirmed the departure of the 57-year-old with a brief statement on the club's official website from Oyston.
"We couldn't leave the decision any longer to give someone else the opportunity to help us work our way out of the position we are currently in," the Blackpool chairman said.
