A forum for all things Cardiff City

With Leeds Utd now sacking their manager for the third or fourth time this year ? Leeds are languishing in the bottom half of the table, Cardiff at home, now very well organised as a team surely it is a City victory this Saturday with another three points to come at home.
My personal view is I will gobsmacked if we didn't win.
Opinions ?

Slade would want us to go into the game with the right attitude so I would expect 3 points.
Sun Oct 26, 2014 5:11 pm
Annis I believe Slade will demand a reaction from the players and we will see just that.
I think we will get the three points, we always do against Leeds anyway

No such thing as surely a win in this division although I would expect a win and would take one win from brum and Bolton. It's been well highlighted but I will highlight it again, our record for as long as I can remember against struggling sides is absulotely dire! Least they aren't bottom, that almost guarantees we won't win! You can go back to the old days Barnet bottom lost every single game not a point, not to panic city provided them with a point!
Sun Oct 26, 2014 5:17 pm
Blackpool and then Millwall, I wouldn't put it past Leeds to throw another spanner in, we just don't have the players for a battle in midfield!
Hope I'm wrong but all the signs are there!
Sun Oct 26, 2014 5:29 pm
Annis you should have watched enough football in your life not to be gobsmacked at any result. We are home so we should be expected to win but Leeds arent really in disarray, infact they will probably be even more settled now with Redfern back in charge who was very successful managing them earlier in the season, I would think the players will have a huge boost with him back in charge.

Slade told his players "go out there and make them eat their words".
After this weekend I'm expecting him to say to them "Well the words are still on their plates. Infact the plates are still in the kitchen so any chance we can get them delivered to the table so they can eat their words?"
Do anyone believe the modern footballer has a certain level of IQ to understand that?
Sun Oct 26, 2014 5:41 pm
Makes me laugh that comment! When will you realise we can't win every single match? Not can any team! If you lose you lose, sometimes that's just the way it goes! You understand instructions you just get done! Simple as that!

It's not like Redfearn hasn't got them sorted out. And, unfortunately, Leeds are due to beat us eventually.
Sun Oct 26, 2014 5:50 pm
Is this the Leeds team that are just 3 points behind us, drew away to norwich the game before last and were above us just over a week ago? Are they in any more disarray than us?
Another banana skin awaits.
Sun Oct 26, 2014 5:56 pm
Id have certainly felt more confident if they hadnt sacked the manager.
Sun Oct 26, 2014 6:42 pm
Blackpool hadn't won all season before they played us.
Millwall hadn't won in 8 before they played us.
So, no I would not be surprised if Leeds get a result. Anything is possible with Cardiff!
Sun Oct 26, 2014 6:42 pm
In the newspaper today on the pools panel they had it down for an away win, so neutrals may have a very different view on this result

Carl, What I have heard about Slade so far is that he will demand a reaction and nothing less than 100% against Leeds

Bad timing for us, you know what we're like in situations like this, also the Birmingham game coming up. Apart from the fitness get the mental strength sorted out Russel. My opinion 1 point out of these 2 games.

Very true there is no such thing as a guaranteed win,but if we can't start beating the teams near the bottom forget even the playoffs.

We have to beat teams like them, if we want to go up

Luke, I have and I know what you mean, but if we have intentions of promotion,we should win 99% of our home games anyway
As to Leeds they are in a bad way and let's destroy them
Sun Oct 26, 2014 7:33 pm
We certainly do and a welcomed 3 pm ko

Based on the two performances at home compared to the one away yesterday I think for now it Is safe to say that I would fancy our chances in a home game against of the championship teams at the moment. Leeds have been fairly shocking all season especially now with no manager etc and us being what they call wounded from mill wall I think a win for us by two goals or more..... Or they stuff us after all we are Cardiff City things often don't go to plan. By the way thank you annis and carl for helping me sort out my log in details sorry to be a pain.

That's the spirit I want to hear and the attitude, now the management/tactics come in to play

Doesn't it tell you something about our squad when we fancy or chances at home against any one in the championship but we have yet to win away including some playing some poor teams. These away performances show we lack character in the squad to battle and win these games, promotion candidates have to do this and it's about time we started getting clean sheets. The poor away performances will haunt us at the end of the season, Blackpool and Millwall......pathetic.

What it tells me is, we needed more players with character and a leader.

Completely agree if we are going to do anything from a promotion point of view away games we must start being more consistent and start showing more belief like at home. But SLADE has only been in charge 3 games and we beat unbeaten forest and a strong Ipswich team so shouldn't grumble to much. If we beat Leeds now suddenly it's all smiles and optimism 3 wins and 1 loss if we repeat that over the season we will be up as champions haha. Us fans should focus just as much as our performance as much as the players and manager etc we need to be as vocal as ever at home games as anybody knows the old 12th man cliche is certainly true. And we all need to start getting along not bickering between us like I often see and as Malky once said all pull in the same direction

Hi Annis, for me central midfield is the major problem. Whatever people think of Gunnarson, he's a warrior and when he went off saturday there was a huge difference. What we could do with is a Scott Parker type of player but these are few and far between and as you know Annis we've got a better squad now than the original championship winning team but in that squad there were plenty of strong characters who new how to win and see out games even if sometimes it wasn't pretty.
Sun Oct 26, 2014 8:40 pm
Couldn't agree more about the last comment about Gunnarson. With him as the ball-winner leaving Whits as a more creative attacking midfielder, we got results in the previous two matches. As soon as Gunnarson went off, we lost the initiative. In addition, however, it is important that our strikers take the few chances being created for them, otherwise we are reliant on a
