did the team give up on ole

Mon Oct 20, 2014 7:33 pm

was it oles tactics that were poor or did the team just give up and knew he was on borrowed time.....it seems to me like we have the makings of a good team.. :ayatollah:

Kevin, Ole was Clueless in my opinion.

But Kevin, players were very unhappy with him.

I think Ole was to soft let the players do what they want.

And I hope it's not true that he said the players get their fitness from drills there for they don't need extra fitness training
because that's horrendous I've heard better advice on a sunday morning down Splott Park

They looked lost under Ole and a team under Slade aster 2 weeks :D

I think we under estimate the importance of leadership. Malky may have been a bit of a t**t to the players but he was the boss. Slade is like the head teacher, I don't get he wants to be there friend, but the leader of the group....

As much as I disliked Malky's brand of football, I bloody loved seeing him in the technical area, directing our play. Slade looks to be of the same mould.

Ole, sadly, didn't have that in his locker. I wouldn't say the players gave up on him though, as I do think they were trying, they just didn't have a bloody clue what it was they were meant to be doing. And Ole's decision to revert to long ball tactics to Jones tells me that he wasn't at all familiar with the modern day Championship and wasn't preparing our team properly as a result...both Young and Gabbidon seem to have hinted at this too.

Too much is made of Ole sitting in the dugout instead of ranting away on the sidelines.

Obviously some on here have missed how most of the top Premier League managers choose to sit and watch for what's going wrong. Take Man Utd and Man City's current managers as just initial examples and there's many more.

Our players are highly paid professionals. Do they really need someone shouting at them from the sidelines. Splott Albion we ain't!

I know exactly what you mean but plenty of Premiership managers stand in the technical area from time to time directing & advising.
I, personally, prefer to see our manager stood up & getting involved. Can lift the players & can certainly lift our fans.
Better than watching Ole stand there looking like a frightened rabbit without a clue what to do when things are going wrong!

Personally, I prefer a manager who is "there" with the players. I don´t think most players like someone on the sideline who is shouting and constantly telling them what to do, but it´s something about being out there in the war with the players.

When it comes to players being unhappy or giving up on Ole, this is the contrary of all reports I´ve read so far. Carl said the players were "dejected, shocked and glum" by seeing him leaving, and even Gabbidon stated that the players really bought into his philosophy. So I don´t know, Annis, where you have it from that the players were unhappy with Ole. Which players are you referring to?
