4-4-2

Sun Oct 19, 2014 8:23 am

We all new that RS likes to play this formation. What a difference it was.
We have not played this set up all season. The back four didn't have anyone to babysit them by playing
Just in front of them (no holding midfielder). They defended their territory well.
The midfield moved up and down as a four man unit. A line of four, not one sitting deep and 3 infront.
Good movement off the two upfront, lots of running off the ball, chasing down, good interlinking.
Only injuries and enforced changes allowed Forest back into a game we totally controlled.
Well done to the players and staff, massive congrats to RS for the direction. :thumbright:

The problem was Ole would play the players for a 4-4-2 but they would be scattered around in strange positions.

The wide players were a lot further forward and it caused them a lot of problems.

Spot on.
Add to it - more commitment, a bit fitter & a more pressing game & not defending so deep when we were under the cosh second half & there was a huge improvement.
Laughable that some on here have stated that they can see no difference!!
