They look more organised in defence but are still hoofing the ball.

Think the majority of players playing in their natural positions showed what has been lacking.

Exactly, keep it simple, the players look much more comfortable, and know what to do in their natural positions....

In the first half they did.

In the second half it was the same as it's been for months.

Unable to retain the ball for more than two passes, no creativity, lumping the ball forward aimlessly, only one attempt on goal (Morrison's header) and hanging on at the end.

Happy with the three points but it was hardly a new dawn.

Nice to see us leave a player up the pitch when defending a corner though!

Think its gonna take a bit of time for Slade to undo all the mess ole left. Signs of it beginning to happen today in the first half atleast :ayatollah:

Although I would never had put noone in full back, he was being torn apart

Cardiff City boss Russell Slade hails team's work rate

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has praised his side's work rate during their 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest in the Championship.

Goals from Federico Macheda and Peter Whittingham inflicted a first defeat on Forest, and the Bluebirds boss described the win as "a great result for the football club".

Sky Sports News quotes him as saying: "The players worked exceptionally hard. I hope people saw a bit of a difference today and a bit of a structure and a game plan which we can develop going forward.

"The first half was really pleasing. We looked a threat going forward, we created a few opportunities and we were nice and compact without the ball.

"We hung on in there well during the last few minutes, which were a bit scary, and it is a great result for the football club."

He's not a left back of course.

But then neither is Joe Ralls. Did Slade not watch the last game where Ralls played left back?

I think it was more about tiredness, these players have been on double shift for 2 weeks, they only needed to contain forest in the second half and they did this well, Slade will get them fully firing once he has them fit and organised.

Was nice to see a vocal manger on the sidelines too, instead of a dejected figure sat down with his arms folded or in his pockets.,,,

Didnt see that victory coming today on paper but if that's the best the league has got then there's no reason why we can't make top 6!

I didn't think the second half was a bad performance, personally. Slade knew that Forest would come at us, and unlike other home games recently, we held on and never looked in trouble. And had we not had that disaster with Adeyemi, I doubt we would have even conceded today. Forest were disappointing, in my opinion.

Unlucky with injuries and sickness, Fabio, Gunner, Adeyemi straight away, and Noone looke injured at the end aswell.

Great improvement overall though, and in a short space of time, it's not rocket science mind play player in the correct positions, the period you talk about in the second half is when we couldn't do that due to injuries.....

Yup, I know Ralls was out of his comfort zone also, however did a much better job. Does anyone know why Ravel Morrison wasn't on the team sheet ? Is he injured

Gonna watch the full 90 while the wife watches X Factor tonight and see for myself, :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Certainly from what I've read and heard we looked far better than we previously were under Ole!

Long may it continue

Agree. Whitts was finally utilised in his best role and you could see it in his play! :ayatollah:

His next challenge is to repeat that on Tuesday against a good Ipswich side ;)
