Christmas

Wed Oct 15, 2014 11:14 am

Quite shocking some shops have gone full blown Santa Claus already.

Mince pies fair enough, but Tescos have like 3 aisles dedicated to Christmas presents and advent calendars in October!?.

Is it too early?.

When I was growing up my parents always said that Christmas could start two weeks before Christmas Day. However, in our household we say that festivities such as opening tins of chocolate and watching Christmas movies can begin on the first day of December and it's a month-long celebration.

My view of Christmas isn't religious though. To me it is all about celebrating what you have with your family and friends. I do find the commercial side of it starting now to be quite annoying though. Anything Christmas-related before the start of December is hard to not find irritating.

Late November is ok, but then again I like the build up to Christmas anyway :)

when Christmas meant something it was a great time for families to get together and celebrate. now it has just become a commercial band wagon to sell more and more junk to people and put families who are already under financial pressure, in more debt. Apart from having all my family round for Christmas dinner, I have lost all interest in the damn thing.

As soon as my birthday is over the festivities can begin in our house. Unbelievably though that is around 11th November.

That is usually the date for the lights going on in town.

My family are friggin mental when it comes to Christmas though. There are already tins of chocolates out and never mind the start of shopping they have actually started WRAPPING.

This is balanced by us all being depressed from January through to October. :sad7:

Christmas has gone way over the top commercially now and it really annoys me!!!

The best thing about Christmas for me is that everyone in the family makes an active effort to get together. I love just sitting around the dinner table on Christmas day feeling merry and enjoying the company of all my relatives. That what Christmas should be about :old: :old:

Hate Christmas now, started losing interest about 4 years ago when I was 14. Only thing I enjoy is the dinner and going out boxing day
