What a massive difference in attitude towards playing for Wales. Bale is a Welsh legend already totally giving his all for his country, Giggs on the other hand could never give a monkeys.

Bale will finish at Wales' highest appearance maker and goalscorer. May be top goalscorer in just 2 years or so
Mon Oct 13, 2014 10:28 pm
Giggs did f**k all for Wales, Just look at the passion Bale has for his country, Puts Giggs to shame.

Maybe if people hadn't have slagged him off every time he missed a friendly then he would have turned up more, also don't forget he could have easily chose England...

He couldn't have, simple as that.

Im amazed people keep saying that. Ryan was ineligable to play for England. He representented english schools because he went to one, and thats it. In Cheltenham, a couple of years ago, an African prince went to private school. He was good at rugby and got to the final selection process of the english school rugby team. if selected he would have represented england schools even though he was born in Africa by African parents. His eligability was that he would be representing his schools country not his own. So in short, he couldn't have chosen England even if it were his life's dream.
For me, there is no comparison. Bale has done more already in my mind for Wales than Giggs ever did. Giggs was a lacklustre captain who showed very little passion and only turned up when he felt he should. Bale is a huge breath of fresh-air. If one of the world biggest superstars has this passion for Wales then so should everyone involved in Welsh football, including the fans. He should have the captaincy and lead this nation into its golden generation and go down as the best we have ever produced. He is a phenomenal talent and could very well be the worlds best in a year or two.

I have this argument every few months with someone. He wasn't eligible for Wales! I was thinkin last night it is clear how passionate Bale is about Wales and how much that win meant to him. Complete opposite of Giggs attitude when he was playing. He dropped out of friendlies left right and centre, when Bale was out of a friendly he was sat in the crowd supporting the team.

The fact Giggs only had 64 caps says it all. Bale has already surpassed Giggs' goalscoring tally and is only 15 appearances away from matching his caps tally at 26 years old. In terms of International career, Giggs cant hold a flame to Bale even now at this relatively early stage of his career.

Of course people will slag him off for missing friendlys, he couldnt be bothered to turn up. Thought he was better than us. Fergie had alot to do with it too.

Giggs is the better club player but I'm sure that could change by the time Bale finishes his career. Bale has already proven himself to be the better player for Wales though.

Regardless of what people said or didn't say, if giggs really wanted to play for wales he would have....criticism is rife in football, and players accept it, so I'm sorry I don't accept that as a reason !

As far as commitment to his country is concerned, Bale is far superior to Giggs.
As a man, and on the basis that it would seem that so far Bale has not been having an affair with his brother's wife, Bale would be superior also.
Who would you have preferred playing for the City - Giggs at the height of his powers or Bale at the height of his?
Bale for me.

I believe Bale has looked at Ronaldo and thought yep I can single handed get this team to a major final as Ronaldo did last season..... And boy is he trying

Agreed.
Did Giggs ever play like that for Wales?
A bit too busy making sure he didn't miss the next Man United game.

Spot on.

yes, fair play to bale he wants to play for wales and is a passionate welshman, same as bellamy. he'll get 120 caps if he carries on playing to a reasonable age
the likes of giggs who turned up for competitive games if we were lucky, was a fantastic footballer who had the chore of having to play for wales, another like that is james collins. pulls a sickie every international break, just retire ginge
Tue Oct 14, 2014 8:15 pm
In international terms, the two aren't in the same league.

Bale is by far the better player for Wales, that's clear to see that it gives him pride to play for our country where as Giggs couldn't give 2 shits about playing. Could you imagine a welsh team where Giggs on one wing and bale on the other, with Ian Rush and Mark Hughes, or even John Charles up front, we'd be the best team in the world lol

If Giggs had really wanted to play for England then he could of simple,
England have bent the rules in the past and could have easily done it for Giggs, Giggs has always said he wished to play more games for Wales but wasn't allowed...
"Giggs also went on to describe the stark contrast between his club career with United and his international career with wales.
He added: "My career for my country has obviously been the total opposite to the one for my club. I've been so successful with United but not so with Wales.
"I would always watch the other lads, especially those ones I grew up with, go away on international tournaments and wish that I could do the same."

Bale puts his body on the line, he was targeted by the Cypriots, but Bale got up and went at them again and again. Such an inspirational player, we are lucky to have one of the finest players in world football a Welshman!

I've kind of never got too involved in the Giggs argument, but it's his choice.. if he loses asleep over it then rightly so because he could have done something for both club and country.
Can't fault Bale, he can stand out so easily for country like Ronaldo does for Portugal, he has dug us out the whole plenty of times and I hope more Welsh players in the future who are at a very high level take note.

But he isn't English?
Maybe we can bend the rules and get in Messi. That'll help.

Bale is as much our captain as Ashley Williams. He's truly inspirational, whereas Giggs was never that committed. He can and has changed a game on his own ; Giggs never managed that.
Fri Oct 17, 2014 7:31 am
Giggs was never eligible to play for England, so they wouldn't have been able to fix it to play for them. It is that simple.
Whether it was Fergie to blame or Giggs himself, Bale has shown a passion and commitment to Wales that we never saw from Ryan.
Kudos to Madrid for allowing him to do so too.

From my understanding, Giggs was born in Cardiff with both mother & father being Welsh. He moved to England as a young lad so can't understand how he could ever have played for them.
I used to get sick of arrogant Englishmen banging on about how he could have played for them!
