Cardiff Current Management Team Situation/Still Not Sorted

Sat Oct 11, 2014 1:46 pm

' Updated '

Vincent Tan wants everything decided before the Forest game, be interesting regarding Kevin Nugent as Orient Fans dont even want him.

At this present moment Russell Slade is our manager and Scott Young is our assistant manager with Danny Gabbidon as a player/coach.

This is how it could change.

Cardiff City have offered Kevin Nugent Assistant managers job,but Orient have offered him the managers job(some are saying its just verbally), the wages City have offered are low and pretty much the same as Nugent would get if he became manager of Orient.

If you were Nugent, what would you choose?

Tan wants Scott Young to stay as assistant.
Scott Youngs contract is waiting there for him to sign.

Russell Slade has said he wants Nugent to come and if he does he will have 2 Assistants and a coach in Gabbidon.

Do you feel it will work?

Are you happy with that?

If I had a chance to be a manager of a team or someone's no2 I would take the management job if it's same money

Why can't Tan stay out of it?

When you bring in a manager you should support him with what he feels he needs to do the job. That is what you pay him for to manage.

If this is true Tan telling Slade who he can have then it is going to fail regardless of how many assistants are taken on.

Darren,Ive heard it is virtually the same money and I would choose the same as you, better of being your own boss. Nugent has supposedly had the offer on the table for over a week. I dont think most Orient fans want him though.

Being in management myself I would take the job with less responsibility if the money is the same.

Ian Football is surely different? as assistant you dont get noticed as much as a manager, but your right about one thing, a lot less headaches and responsibilities

I feel it all depends on how Nugent feels he can do at Orient. All assistant Managers, Like Manager always want that one big chance, maybe Nugent will look at this as his big break,if I was Nugent I would take the orient Job and try to build on what they have done up till now. He has already worked with the players and knows them as they know him.

There is nothing wrong with Tan wanting Scott Young to be AN assistant. They have offered Nugent a job too acording to Annis.
Tan isn't stopping Slade picking his own support team. But I guess that doesn't give you anything to moan about then would it? :(

Nugent has been offered the manager job at Orient he is at presant studying the contract, but looks like he wants to stay there.

How does that judge ad a moan? Tan telling Slade who he can have is not good at all.

I don't get this two assistant managers stuff surely that's one to many :? It appears to me that Russell Slade wants Kevin Nugent and an offer has been made so give him a day or two and if he hasn't made his mind up move on.

The worry for me here is that this has a smell of VT imposing his will over Russell Slade before the guy has even had his first game in charge. Surely he should be looking to support his new manager and if he wants an experienced assistant so be it, Nugent or a.n.other but it seems to me VT is saying Scott Young WILL be involved.

Nothing should surprise any of us really afterall we are dealing with VT.

Roy, thats what most sportsmen want to do is get as high as they can, it will be interesting next week as I feel both Clubs will want their final decisions.

I'd rather Young and Gabbidon had nothing to do with the first team!!! :old:

Gary there is a bit of both here, Slade wants Nugent and Tan wants him to have Young as well. Slade will of course say he is happy to keep the present staff and then everyone will be happy at the club.

Fair play to Orient fans for a small club they took 599 fans to Sheffield United today :thumbright: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

In the 80's I remember when they would only bring about 30-40 fans to Ninian Park.

The Majority of Orient fans want Nugent gone.
Theyve done terrible under him, according to their fans.

Slade wants Nugent quite understandable,Tan wants Young so offers Nugent no incentive to leave present job cracks appearing already?

Seems an odd set up if Slade has two assistants.

As Gary says above, it sounds like Slade will have his choice and Tan will have his too.

I think this all sounds a bit lightweight in the coaching side! Management can implement his ideas but needs a good coach to put it in place...

I'm a little worried.....

Tan should let Russell Slade have the "assistant" of his choice, as he will live or die (metaphorically) by his own decisions in the coming months/years. But I can appreciate him (Tan) wanting the likes of Young and Gabbidon involved 'somewhere' within the set-up though, as he sees them as "Cardiff City men" for the future

Agree that Young is City through and through, but not so much Gabbs (who spent a long time away from the club) ;)

Fans complained about not having consistency in our set-up now it's suggested we keep young and have slades assistant at orient that's not good because tan as something to do with it ffs Make mind's up? :old:

I'm not sure i do either to be honest Annis... Much prefer us to get a good number two to work alongside slade, although we won't get much for 100k a year or less!,, I think even lennie earned more than that for us when he was at the helm.
