"Wrexham 150"

Sat Oct 11, 2014 10:03 am

Hopefully big crowd at the oldest international football stadium this afternoon to celebrate 150 years of Wrexham Football club. Seems a long time ago now that we were such big rivals but hopefully we are on the way back.
Might even get a mention in the Cardiff based media. Good luck for the rest of the season boys and girls!

Seen some cracking games against you guys.

Once witnessed you guys winning the Welsh cup against us over two legs. You won the 1st leg at your place 2-1 then held us to a 1-1 draw. I was totally gutted.

Good luck and hope you get back in the league. When you say oldest international football ground, is that in Wales, GB or Europe?

If there is such a thing as having a second team then Wrexham are deffo mine. Was gutted when you lost out to Newport in the playoffs, but hopfully it won't be to long now before we see you back in the leagues. Congratulations on 150 years mate and good luck for the rest of the season :ayatollah:

One of the best games I have been to was the FA cup match against Wrexham in 1977 hen we won 3 - 2 with a last minute John Buchanan special. It had everything , a real blood and thunder battle , in front of almost 30,000 at Ninian Park . Great days , with both sets of fans making a special atmosphere. Wrexham should at least be a championship club , I still look out for their results.

Was at that game. Wrexham came back from 2-0 and got their equaliser in the last minute only for us to score from the kick off.

I was there that day when Buchanan scored place went mental best Welsh Derby I have ever been to and what was great about it was a fa cup classic even then we threatened to go all the way that season to Wembley until Everton knocked us out but that's another storey

Thanks for the messages guys.
Sadly the day didn't go to plan both on and off the pitch with probably our worst performance of the season with the consensus being the crowd turned up but not the team. Many people turned away as capacity supposedly reached even though hundreds of empty seats in the ground due to segregation and safety certificates. Sold out of commerative programmes by 2 o clock, some stands out of food by half time. I could go on, just hope some of the floating and young first time fans aren't put off for life as they have created a real buzz around the club this week.
In answer to abergblue- oldest international football stadium in the world still in use apparently.
Ah well as we all know football is a roller coaster ride, especially for welsh fans. Maybe we will all meet in France in 2016 as we were all going to Spain in 82, USA 94 etc etc :)
Enjoy the rest of the season, I am sure things will improve for both clubs

Forgot to mention to the people talking about the FA cup game in 77. I worked with a scouser a few years ago, who went down as an Everton fan in the next round and said its the most scared he has been in his life
