Wales' 0-0 draw with Bosnia means Coleman's men top their group with their manager now urging his side to go on and beat Cyprus on Monday
Chris Coleman paid tribute to his Wales battlers as they went top of their Euro 2016 group with a hard-earned point against Bosnia and urged them “let’s go out and beat Cyprus."
A record international gate at Cardiff City Stadium saw Coleman’s young Dragons go toe-to-toe with the top seeds in Group B and emerge with a creditable point in a no-holds barred showdown.
With Monday’s opponents Cyprus losing at home to Israel, the 0-0 draw put Wales top of a qualifying group for the first time in more than a decade.
But Coleman warned his stars they now have to follow up the performance in two days’ time, adding: “We have to beat Cyprus – and if we do this will look a really good point.”
The bumper crowd, which flocked through the turnstiles to roar on Gareth Bale and his team-mates, gave a the performance a standing ovation at the final whistle and chanted their country’s name as signs of new belief soared through the national team.
Coleman said: “It was one of the best atmospheres for some time. I remember playing at the old Cardiff Arms Park when 40,000 people sang the anthem and it was rocking.
“Then we moved to the Millennium and when it was full it was the same. We had it tonight and it was powerful. We have earned that support – but we have to make sure we keep it.
“If we can make it seven points from three games by beating Cyprus then this will be an international camp we look back on fondly.”
Bale came within a whisker of winning the game for Wales at the death, only for Asmir Begovic to pull off a world class save to deny him.
Coleman said: “I thought it was in. We knew if it was 0-0 with 15 minutes left he would have a chance and it so nearly happened for him.
“But we’ve been in games like that before where we have been bullied but we stood up to the challenge and matched them.
“They kicked us and we kicked them.”
