Those against 4-4-2

Fri Oct 10, 2014 2:13 pm

There seems to be a lot of alarm at city playing a 4-4-2 system...and with the way we are playing at the moment and the playing staff we have, I tend to agree.

But a number of clubs use the 4-4-2 system effectively..and it was Dave Jones preferred formation

If we had a strong defensive midfield player and a good playmaker alongside him..we could argue for two wingers..However those wingers would need pace and must be able to put a shift in when we are not in possession.

In possession it would give us width and pace... when we lose possession the wingers tuck in 10 yds and make the middle 4 more compact..additionally with two good attacking fullbacks who can overlap you have plenty of options going forward.

when out of possession those wingers must be disciplined to either drop back and help the full backs or tuck in .. unfortunately we don't have two wingers who at the moment are prepared to track back and who are pacey going forward.

We also don't have that duo in the middle...or could a fit Dicagkoi and Ravel Morrison fill those roles?

They could IMO and with Harris and Noone on the flanks and Daehli tucked just in behind Guerra we'd be a force to be reckoned with. Jones and Le Fondre could be an alternative 'Big man/Little man' set up.

We have to fit both Ravel and Daehli in the same team
