The question may well be "Can they do any worse than two parties (two and a half IF you include the Limp/Dem Party) already out there?"![]()

I watched the results come in last night and was quite amazed at what I saw after I analysed the figures. The Clacton seat although the UKIPs first win was no surprise. A reasonable turnout with a defected ex conservative standing in his old constituency history has shown the local populi will return him. It was a reasonable turnout,51%, so no big surprise. However the other seat was an astonishing result.
Haywood and Middleton is a stronghold for Labour. Last night they nearly lost the seat but hung on by a slim majority. They went from a majority of 12,000 to 600 but actually increased their vote share by 1%. The UKIP gained from the collapse of the Conservative and Liberal votes but obviously picked up some of the new votes. The outstanding fact here though is the turnout.
Only 36% turn out for the Haywood and Middleton by election. Apathy within the interest of politics is rife due to the other three parties not appealing to most. People have given up but I just wonder now if this has started a rival. Will people now get of their backside and vote as there is a new boy in town?
So what is everyones opinions here? Will a rival in interest happen and we will see more people vote? If that happens how do you think they will vote? Will people who have not voted in ages vote Conservative/Labour/Liberal to prevent the UKIP getting in? Will they vote UKIP because they see hope in a new direction or whatever the Farage gang bring? Whatever happens it is going to be an election like none we have ever seen before.

Yes they can! Put it this way, if ukip ever came into power, I'd consider leaving this country. And no that's not "boycotting", it's just I feel I'd be better of out of the country ran by those nut jobs. And believe me I'm not the only one who thinks that.

But as UKIP seem to be saying what the silent majority think, the other parties are alienating themselves even more.
By abusing and name calling, more and more people could turn to UKIP to represent them.
It will split the Tory vote, but will also hit Labour in their taken for granted areas as well.
Remember a lot of the BNP vote was in Labour strongholds - not the Tory ones.

Reminds me of the clamour in the USA for a black president Ian where everyone got carried along with wanting something different. Talking to people in the states last month there's not a lot of nice things said about Obama. I suppose I'm saying it might be the novelty factor that will have a shelf life.

Belgium. I've got family out there and I've always had an affiliation with the country ever since. I haven't got any options yet cause I honestly don't think those nutjobs will get in power for another 20years.

Now we know why you dislike UKIP, it's because Nigel Farage criticised Herman Van Rompuy.

Erm not exactly, I just feel UKIP would bring this country back to the 50s and ruin the country. If they ever come into power I hope they prove me wrong as obviously, I want the best for my country.

Remember Hitler was elected democratically in Germany and was very popular. The same thing is happening in England.

they've called to switch to a points based immigration system, like the one australia operate, where applications are graded and those with skills we need get in easier than an unskilled person.
you are living in a fantasy world if you think allowing hundreds of thousands of unskilled migrants doesn't affect the man on the street trying to earn an honest living.
its people like you equating anti open door immigration with nazism and facism that has caused the main political parties to be too scared to touch the issue, thankfully this is changing with both major parties acknowledging that something needs to be done
