He has a real problem in my opinion cos we don't have enough out and out wingers have stacks of midfielders now but no decent pairing in the centre either which poses big selection headaches
Too many strikers as well and if adopting one up front we won't need them all
Has a lot of others to offload also
I'm fine with 22 players but we have 38 including those out on loan
Hopefully a few on loan will come back and play a part is a few have great potential in the correct environment
Problem we have is the wages we are paying every player is far too high and even offloading we will more than likely have to pay a fees additonal wages just to get them off the books
I put a 4-4-2 side up on another thread that I belive is our best squad but even I think that squad is top six at best
Which considering squad size is a real concern

Marshall Moore
Brayford Fabio John
Connolly Turner Manga Morrison........(.cala out)
Noone Daehli R.Morrison whitts Pilkington Adeyemi Dicgakoi.harris..........(Burgastaller..kim ralls gunnarrsson ..ekreim out)
Jones ..Guerra ..Le fondre .. Macheda .............( Maynard Velonjika out)
That would be my 21 plus a strong central midfield player with pace and winger with pace on loan with a view to permanent in JANUARY.. WISHFUL THINKING
out on loan. .kiss..nugent..McNaughton ..Lewis..Mason..Berget....Keep Lewis and Mason
may have missed one or two

I agree the squad is unbalanced but don't agree with you regarding the wingers.i think we have 3 out & out wingers & a few who can play wide midfield.
With a 4-4-2 if you have 2 wingers that hug the touch line & 2 forwards (as RS seems to want to play) then your very exposed through the centre. One winger should be enough in a game especially as we are constantly getting overrun in the middle anyway.
Noone on the right, a wide midfielder on the left - personally I'd put Whiits there - with Fabio overlapping to give us the width when attacking. This would then allow us to tighten the middle of the park.

Adam, these are the players I was told, unless of course they change his mind.
The Spanish players, Slade has been told are a disruption, but I believe Guerra has never been given a chance.
Juan Cala, Kim Bo-Kyung, Magnus Eikrem, Guido Burgstaller, Kadeem Harris, Javi Guerra, Etien Velikonja.

Well he'll want to focus the team and play a regular side I reckon.
I think he also wants to play 2 up front. Might stick Guerra and Jones up there and drop Macheda/Maynard.

I've been dying for Harris to be given a chance Annis as the little I've seen of him he looks just what we need.

A shame if they get rid of Burgstaller, he really impressed me pre-season and then didn't get a chance once the season started.

Ole bought to many players and your right a lot of these players have never had a proper chance, just too big a squad.

disagree
If you play 4-4-2 you can use width and pace to break forward ..if and when you lose possession the wingers can tuck inside and close down the middle...if the opposition break wide you move out and close them down and the midfield shifts across.
That is why pace I needed..Whitts has no pace unless he ups his game he should be rested...If Pilkington is going to play he needs to work harder. if You have two wingers who can tuck in and work you can play two in a 4-4-2 but unfortunately we don't..so with what we have at present I agree play one winger.. why not put RAVEL out wide left he can always cut in

Agreed, too big. Maybe some can go out on loan, but I imagine a few of them with be going in January. Could be useful money for any strengthening we desperately need to do in that window anyway.
Cala would be a shame to go, and same with Guerra, but it sounds like they've pissed a lot of people off. Haven't seen much of Kim or Eikrem this year and Velikonja is somewhere else I'm sure.
Wonder if we'll bring back and use Mason, McNaughton and Kiss next season.

Ole liked to use inside wings, and if Slade wants the wings to go wide, out squad does not have the right balance. Obviously, he will keep Noone and Pilkington, and maybe Harris could be used wide as well. I am worried about the future for Burgstaller and Dæhli. Shipping Dæhli out in January, might bring in enough money to buy a speedy wing. Celtic might use the option they have to buy Berget, but he has not been given much time on the pitch lately, so this should not be taken for granted.
In central midfield, the options are Whitts, Kimbo, Dikgacoi, Eikrem, Ravel, Gunnarsson, Adeyemi and Ralls. Among those, it´s easy to predict that Eikrem and Kimbo will be shipped out, but there is always a possibility that the right attitude at training will give them a renaissance under Slade. Maybe we will see some surprises here? My guess though, is that Eikrem will ask for a transfer as he´s obviously not happy with being left out.
Probable none of the full backs will be leaving, unless someone like John is insisting to be given play time. Maybe there will be an offer on Fabio that is too good to be turned down?
Cala and Guerra seem to be doomed at the club, but except from Velikonja, I don´t think any of the other strikers will be leaving.
So here is my wild guess:
Out:
Cala
Fabio
Nugent
Dæhli
Kimbo
Burgstaller
Dikgacoi
Eikrem
Berget
Guerra
Velikonja
Mason
In:
One or two wingers
A full back

Fabio out? He's been the best outfield player this season IMO. To weaken the defence is madness!!
If a big offer comes in, it's a case of not being able to afford to lose him.
The debate about wingers is an interesting one. It is true that by pushing wide the centre can be vulnerable, but you also have to think who will provide penetration and crosses for the 2 strikers. Slade will have his own ideas so have to wait and see which way he sets it up.

Fabio is our best player, imo, and of course he´s an asset for Cardiff. But come January, we are mid table and the ambitions for the season is somehow lowered, a big club needs a full back badly (they don´t grow on trees these days) and comes up with an offer 10 millions +. Don´t you think Tan will be tempted to sell? Many "ifs" here of course, but since we´re having a guessing game...
Fri Oct 10, 2014 11:20 am
10mil for Fabio
Anyway if Slade is going to play 442 with two sitting midfielders, two wingers and two strikers then it'll suck op for Ravel and Dæhli's chances of developing their game as a number ten. Plus, unless Dikcagoi is about to come back and be everything we need and more (or Fillip Kiss is brought back but that seems unlikely) a 442 will struggle. Still I'd imagine with the squad size we have he'd narrow it too:
GK: Marshall, Moore
RB: Brayford, Connolly
CBR: Manga, S. Morrison
CBL: Turner, Gabbidon
LB: Fabio, Ralls
DM: Dikcagoi, Gunnarson
CM: Whitts, Adeyemi
LM: Pilkington, R. Morrison,
RM: Noone, Dæhli
CF: Jones, Macheda
CF: Maynard, Le Fondre
With a Matchday line up long the lines off:
Marshall
Brayford Manga Turner Fabio
Dikcagoi Whitts
Pilkington Noone
Jones Maynard
----------------------------------
Moore, Connolly, Gunnarson, Adeyemi, Dæhli, R. Morrison, Le Fondre.
----------------------------------
Guerra, Burgstaller (alas), Kim, Eikrem and Cala all looking to move on with John and Harris going out on loan.
But then with new managers players on fringes often get revitalised so you might see Say Eikrem tried in midfield with Gunnar or Dikcagoi

I really like Kimbo and think he could still be a superb player. But hasn't there been a ruling from next season that clubs outside of the Premier cannot have any non-eu players? And is Kenwyn Jones dual nationality else he will have to go too

Actually just looked it up. Banned from sigining non-eu players. And prem clubs cannot loan out non-eu players to football league. Means if we do go up don't think we can loan out any of the Norwiegians or sell them to championship sides??

I'm actually hoping Slade has no preconceived idea of who he wants to keep and who he wants to release. I'm hoping he has madeit clear to the entire squad that anyone could go and anyone could be kept, depending upon their attitude. This should shake up some of the primadonnas and at the same time give the fringe players some motivation to work hard at improving their game. The very last thing we need now is for players to be picked on past reputations, and others to be discarded without having a proper chance to show what they can do. I sincerely hope Slade shows them he means business.

I hear you mate! I hope Tan wouldn't cash in by losing a major asset though. Fingers crossed!
