Slade Quick Pass and Move

Tue Oct 07, 2014 4:42 pm

Do you think slade will want to pick all workhorses in his team? This resulting in players who are technically gifted like ravel, guerra and macheda losing out and not getting a look in?
Be interesting now to see what type players he will go for and what our team will end up being...
If he wants to play attacking football with quick pass and move like mentioned though these are the players I would say who should and can and can not play quick pass and move football on the ground so on that basis her would be my ins and outs for Russell team based on that philosophy -
Ins - Ravel,mats,macheda,guerra,noone,manga,brayford,Fabio
Outs - Jones,whittingham,pilkington

Thought opinions on who will he go with and who will miss out?

I wouldn't classify Macheda as gifted or a workhorse so he has no chance!

Ideally I suppose the manager needs to have a combination of skilful players and some grafters. Could do with bringing in a Medel/ Diame type midfielder to shore up the midfield which is an easy touch at the moment.

Teams that play against us are generally dominating the midfield and our defence is having to put up with wave after wave of attacks.

I agree macheda isn't a workhorse but maybe slade can motivate him to up his work rate as he is a good man manager and motivator, but imo macheda is technically very good and does have ability, and the ability to be involved in a fast paced pass and move game.

Got to agree with your point on the midfield too, we get over run far too easily we need a proper midfield enforcer who can pass and break up play, maybe dikgachoi could be that man when he is fit? And whoever that midfield enforcer is they surely have to be paired with ravel in there don't you think?

Is guess it would be 4-4-2 when all fit

Marshall

Brayford
Manga
Turner
Fabio

Noone
Cdm(really not sure who's the best to play here)
Ravel
Daehli

Jones
Guerra

This would be my preferred starting 11 aswell but maybe macheda in for jones, and maybe dikgachoi can be our defensive midfielder if he can get him self fit

No cover in that midfield, get torn a new one in the championship. 4-5-1 has to be the way going forward just with more structure.

This style of football will suit Ravel,Mats, Guerra, Noone, Fabio, Manga, Brayford, Cala, Macheda and Declan
Don't see how Gunnar,Jones,Turner,Morrison,Adeyemi would fit with this style of football
Not sure if Whitts, Pilks, Eikrem, Burgtaller and Le Fondre could adapt to this style?

Have no idea about Dikgacoi as have hardly seen him play.

Whatever formation he likes surely we have enough players in our squad to be adaptable. The loan signing of ravel is important and if he's on song the midfield should be built around him. Perhaps when our squads fitness issues are sorted then the midfield combinations can be addressed as up to now this as been a big chink in our armour. Our midfield as been as poor as the dark days of Rae and mcphail a couple of years ago. I don't blame any individual, some just can't seem to play together.
The main thing we've lacked is someone to have a go and take the other team on and this shouldn't be sacrificed for having all plodders. If slade gets the balance right quickly we could be o.k.

How can he pick all workhorses in his team?
I've yet to see any this season with the exception of Fabio & Gunnarsson.
As always, you need a mixture of both.

Why build the team around a player that will leave in 2 months? Play him yes, but it would be bloody short sighted to build anything around him for the whole thing to collapse when he is gone.

West ham are doing well, might be hard for ravel to break into the team there this season, however if ravel extended his loan spell and impressed all season at city then he could get in the team at west ham next season, a season long loan deal could then be better all around for everyone then so could be possible?

He is going to court in January that's why it's only a 2 month loan.

Yeh but if he was so important to west ham he could have been playing for them up until January same as he is for us. But west ham are doing well now so come January it is gonna be hard for ravel to break into their first 11 this season imo so might be a better option all around for him to stay at city till the end of the season

It seems now that Ravel might not play for west ham again after what David Gold has said.

A bit late responding but at the moment and it can still change obviously he's the only attacking threat we've got from the central midfield area. Hypothetically If he was only here for 3 games what does it matter it's a potential 9 points to play for. There's lots of points to play for until January and by then we could be either amongst the chasing pack or on our way to a good survival target. That's good enough for me to back him even if it's only temporary

Agree with ravel in the middle and two up top we'd get over run

I think Whitts can be given one more chance to prove his worth, otherwise, have dickagoi if he is fit :ayatollah:
