' Sean Morrison / Manga/ defensive problems '

Morrison For me has been a big disappointment so far. His first game was great but since then he has not played well. His positioning isn't good nor is his reading of the game. He needs both of these to be spot on as his main strength is power not pace. Manga is dodvy in the air therefore Morrison should be going for everything. Also Manga panics a lot andhits soft balls, straight to opposition players in our half. He needs to calm down and concentrate on getting some distance in those circumstances.

Fabio does amazingly well with little or no cover from midfield. But that is why he gets drawn into rash challenges. Biggest problem is leaving players out wide with acres of space to pick a cross. However this is often the opposition fullback and therefore the midfielders responsibility.

Brayford is a class full back. Cuts out crosses, tackles, blocks and gets forward. Again often exposed by the midfield but not as much as the left.

The real problem is lack of cover from midfield and failure to get back into formation to defend. This exposes the defence and forces them to make risky tackles which if they fail lets the opposition in. Or if they succeed often sees he balll going to an oncoming attacker rather than one of our sleeping midfielders.

Weare crying out for a player like Dijkacoi and a leader to organise and galvanise things in midfield.

Biggest dissapointment is Adeyami... what is he doing,I'm sure he is better than that. Whitts should be further forward, Ralls offers no support on the left and leaves gaping holes in our defence. Best firmation I've seen was against sheff weds with Pilkington and Noone providing width and some cover.

We have too many lightweight mudfielders, Whits, Daehli, noone, pilkington, kim, burgstaller, Ekreim. No leaders no kne to put a foot in. We can't even keep possession even though we have all these so called flair players.

As for attack, good on paper, in practice no movement and no understanding, we are relying on individual skills rather than team work. If Jones goes for a header look off him. Use the flair players to pass through the gaps like teams do to us. Use Daehli and Noone to take people on in the box not in the middle third.

Having said all that we've got players who are easily good enough for this league, let's hope Slade can utilise them and turn them into a team before it is too late.

I'm optimistic but not sure if it will be too late for this season

It's not too late at this point in the season. It wasn't too long ago the Palace were down at the bottom at Christmas and still got promoted. Keep the faith. :bluescarf:

Turner and Manga will hopefully be two of the best defenders this season..........

Hope Turner is back soon....

I think Slade might have kept Hudson if he had come in a month or so earlier ??

Slade is probably not scared to work with another man's squad, unlike Ole who ripped the last one apart

Problem is lack of system, no point pointing fingers as everyone of them would look better playing in a better system.

Absolutely!

I was a critic of Connolly, probably because MM did the player no favours by playing him as a right-back - he simply doesn't have the necessary pace for that position and at times he looked terrible. However, he has won me over this season ... he looked composed and assured at centre-back, also he used the ball out of defence well I thought, which is why I think he should just edge Turner.
