" CARDIFF CITY APPOINT RUSSELL SLADE AS FIRST TEAM MANAGER "
Monday 6th October 2014
Cardiff City Football Club are pleased to confirm Russell Slade as First Team Manager, following his appointment by Tan Sri Vincent Tan.
Speaking of the appointment, Tan Sri Vincent Tan said, “I’m delighted to appoint Russell Slade as the Manager of Cardiff City. I have personally offered Russell this opportunity after giving much thought to the needs of the Club at this point in time and firmly believe that he is the right person for the job. I have spoken to many knowledgeable people in the game about Russell, and the feedback has been extremely positive. He is clearly well liked and respected, particularly by his former Chairman, Mr Barry Hearn, who could not speak more highly of him, both as a person and as a manager.
“The stability, integrity and experience that he brings is something I feel is essential for Cardiff City. He is capable of turning a group of players into an organised, tight-knit team, with great team spirit, who will work hard for each other while playing an attractive style of football. I want to give this honest, committed and hardworking man the opportunity to manage our talented players and I am convinced, with God’s blessing, Russell can succeed now that he has been given his first opportunity to manage at a higher level.
“I ask that our supporters offer him a chance to prove his long term value to our club, giving him and his players their full support as we try to earn our place in the Premier League under his guidance. Look at Russell’s track record. He certainly deserves to be given a chance. After all, Cardiff gave a chance to a mediocre manager from Watford and he took the Club to the Premier League. I did however give him a lot of money to spend for that – in fact, too much money.
“This is an important appointment for me because Russell has the right values for the Club and our supporters. I hope he will be able to bring the best out of our squad, and also help to unite everyone associated with the Club. So, let’s all give Russell a chance.”
Cardiff City Chairman Mehmet Dalman said, “I would like to welcome Russell and wish him every success as Manager of Cardiff City. I would also like to thank Scott Young, Danny Gabbidon and their team for stepping in to take the team over the last few weeks. Both are highly and rightfully respected at Cardiff City and will be given the opportunity to work with Russell to progress their own coaching careers.”
Russell Slade said, “I’m grateful to Vincent for giving me this opportunity as Cardiff City is a fantastic Football Club. We have a large squad and it’s more than putting out the best eleven players on paper. We need the best group of players out there with the right balance and chemistry. It’s now about building a relationship with the players and installing a strong ethos and work ethic. That’s what I want us to take onto the pitch every week.”

BY SAM ROURKE ⋅ OCTOBER 6, 2014
Cardiff City have confirmed that Russell Slade is the club’s new manager.
Slade is the new Cardiff City manager
Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan told the Cardiff club website:“I’m delighted to appoint Russell Slade as the Manager of Cardiff City. I have personally offered Russell this opportunity after giving much thought to the needs of the Club at this point in time and firmly believe that he is the right person for the job.

Good luck Russell - you're going to need it.
You will have my full support during your time here even though I think you are completely the wrong man for the job.
I hope you make me eat my words at the end of the season but I can only see it ending badly I'm afraid.

Russell Slade has finally been appointed as Cardiff City manager today.
The 53-year-old resigned from the job at Leyton Orient following the Capital One Cup exit to Sheffield United, after the Bluebirds had four approaches rejected by the O’s.
Slade has since been unable to take over from former Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Sojskjaer until now after both clubs had been involved in a legal wrangle over compensation payments, and in the mean time he had been working as a consultant for the Championship outfit, with Danny Gabbidon and Scott Young placed in temporary charge.
However, a deal has now been agreed between the two parties which has enabled Slade to take the job and he will be unveiled to the media tomorrow.
But his opening game will not be until October 18, when the Bluebirds host Nottingham Forest.
On his appointment at Cardiff, Slade said: “I’m grateful to Vincent for giving me this opportunity as Cardiff City is a fantastic Football Club. We have a large squad and it’s more than putting out the best eleven players on paper.
“We need the best group of players out there with the right balance and chemistry. It’s now about building a relationship with the players and installing a strong ethos and work ethic. That’s what I want us to take onto the pitch every week.”
His backroom staff have yet to be announced, and it remains to be seen whether caretaker boss at O’s Kevin Nugent, a former Cardiff City player, joins Slade in Wales.

The speculation earlier today about the impending announcement of Russell Slade proved to be correct.
Having held a semi consultancy role at the club following his resignation from Leyton Orient, tonight Cardiff City have officially announced his appointment as first team manager with immediate affect.
A statement from owner Vincent Tan on the Official Site read.
'I'm delighted to appoint Russell Slade as the manager of Cardiff City. I have personally offered Russell this opportunity after giving much thought to the needs of the club at this point in time and firmly believe that he is the right person for the job.'
Tan goes on to say that having spoken to a number of people in football, nobody has a bad word to say about our new gaffer, and that includes his former chairman who 'could not speak more highly of him, both as a person and as a manager.'
'The stability, integrity and experience that he brings is something I feel is essential for Cardiff. He is capable of turning a group of players into an organised, tight knit team, with great team spirit, who will work hard for each other while playing an attractive style of football. I want to give this honest, committed and hardworking man the opportunity to manage our talented players and I am convinced Russell can succeed now that he has been given his first opportunity to manage at a higher level.'
Tan goes on to call on the fans to look at Slade's record and get behind him as he bids to turn our season around but he couldn't resist could he.
'He certainly deserves to be given a chance. After all, Cardiff gave a chance to a mediocre manager from Watford and he took the club to the Premier League. I did however give him a lot of money to spend for that - in fact, too much money.'
Walks off shaking head. Not a dig or a reminder of previous issues that was needed as we are supposed to be welcoming a new era under Slade to the club.

Cardiff have named Russell Slade as their new first team manager.
Slade, who left League One Leyton Orient last month, has been touted for the Bluebirds' role following the exit of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on September 18, and the Sky Bet Championship club confirmed the appointment on Monday night.
Slade takes over with his new club languishing in 15th position following their relegation from the Premier League and with just one win in nine league games.
Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan said of the 53-year-old's appointment: "I'm delighted to appoint Russell Slade as the manager of Cardiff City.
"I have personally offered Russell this opportunity after giving much thought to the needs of the club at this point in time and firmly believe that he is the right person for the job.

Totally agree.
I hope it's a case of Slade: Cum on Feel The Noyz
Rather than Slade: Norman Stanley Fletcher...
He needs positivity and so do the players.
