A forum for all things Cardiff City

I am surprised at the negative comments that Le Fondre seems to pick up on this forum.
Le Fondre is a striker and a proven goalscorer wherever he has played football. It has been unfortunate for him that Ole saw some wisdom in bringing in so many strikers without shipping some out. Yes, Joe Mason has gone out but Jones, Macheda, Le Fondre, Guerra and Maynard does not fit into a 4-5-1.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion but how can some fans heavily criticise a player when he has not had the opportunity to show what he can do? How many minutes has Le Fondre had playing in his rightful position up front this season? One post quoted 10 minutes when he came on against Blackpool. He is a player that deserves. A run of 3/4 games up front playing alongside another striker. When will then see what he can do. At the start of the season as reported in the press he pleaded with Ole to be played up front after starting off the season out wide at Blackburn. This request seemed to fall on deaf years and he cast into oblivion.
Surely we are not firing at the moment - 13 goals from 11 games. I just hope that Slade gives him an opportunity/ run of games to prove his worth. Yes when he came on against Blackpool he blazed a good opportunity over the bar towards the end but that was a classic sign of the player being out of touch / rusty.
He scored 54 goals in 96 games for Rothergam and 39 from 104 for Reading. Many of the games were in the Premiership and he made many of his appearances off the bench. A case can also be argued for the classy Guerra to get a start. For some unknown reason both management teams so far have preferred Maynard & Macheda. I don't know if it's me but neither have set the world alight and I think Macheda has been poor.

He may not of played as a striker in every game he has played for us but he has had plenty of chances to atleast hit the back of the net in the league so far.
To be honest, the only time I have been impressed with him in a City shirt so far is when he picked the ball up in our half against Wolves and ended up running into their box. Impressive run but totally scuffed the ball wide of the post.
I think it is confidence. If we win 3-4 games in a row, I think he will be smashing the goals in.

He is a poor goal hanger and is not a very good footballer.
Rhys Healey or Joe Mason would surely do a better job.
What's the deal on Guerra?

Couldn't agree more with the OP.
Give him a run of games before he's dismissed as shite to the knowledgeable posters on here!

We have about ten players like this, good enough for any other Chamionship team, but more or less dismissed by many of our fans because he hasn't impressed with fleeting games or sub appearances.
Ole fecked it right up buying too many players of similar standard and trying to give them all some game time with no continuity
God knows what our best team is, nobody else does, Slade has s hard job trying to work out our best eleven.....

I thought he looked a good little spark when he came on. Before that we had absolutely nothing. So disapointing to see 1 up top every game when there are 5 options. Something needs to be sorted out!

Mason and Guerra are defo better all round players. Young unfairly attacked Guerra when the whole team was hopeless v. Brentford.

For me, the squad size is the problem as it was OGS intention to play a rotation system. What its meant is that we have some players who ate not going to get enough meaningful game time under their belts which affects them and also the gelling of the team as a whole. I've been underwhelmed by some players for sure but I'm also mindful of the above. This is part of what Slade needs to CIT through and double quick over the international break.

Agree le Fondre has been there and done it, so let's back him.Putting to one side the wages we are paying some of the guys, we just have to stop knocking the players, none of us are perfect and we wouldn't play to intentionally lose a game, so why would our players?. Confidence is at a low right now for players and fans so why can't we just start talking up all the good things that could happen, we are after all just 9 points away from being top of the league!

If common sense prevailed with some then they would see he has been used on the wing more than up top with someone.

He's always been a goalscorer.
I still think him and Jones should start together.

This has to be a joke, Healey and Mason better than a proven goalscorer with the stats to prove it? Yes, both have potential for the future but they are no where near Le Fondre and what he brings. Would like to see Le Fondre for a run of games alongside Guerra but if not then Jones.
