An established Premier League side now ? Could they start to challenge the top 8 or 10 teams in the PL from now on ?

Without a doubt on both counts.

Unfortunately yes. 4 seasons in the Premier League is enough to realise that.

NO, As they will always be at max a middle of the road Prem Club or battling against Relegation as they are punching above their weight already. Small Club and always will be, but Fair Play to what they have achieved :thumbright:

Allan, agreed none of them are.

one poor managerial appointment or the loss of a star player and they could go down, as could 12 other teams

as it happens they are doing well so let them enjoy their time in the limelight

Why the no in capitals Annis? Do you feel that strongly about it? :laughing6:
Being 'established' means that you have proved worthy and as such are generally accepted. I think we are now generally accepted as being part of the premier league rather some clubs who get promoted, spend a load of cash and go straight back down again. :laughing6: It matters not if we are a middle of the road Premier league club or indeed battling against relegation. We have proved our worth in the Prem, so are now accepted and established whether you like it or not. The only time we wont now be established is when we eventually get relegated, when one day I'm sure we will be. So for now Established it is. Hope this helps! :thumbright:

Football changes quickly, but I would say it's safe to say they are an established premier league team, but bottom half.....

Re: Would you class the Jacks as

The PL relegates 3 clubs and promotes 3 every year. That's 15% out and 15% new in.

Any side has a 15% chance of going down on average but the lower half are more likely than that to fall through the trapdoor. Swansea are no different than the rest of the smaller clubs in this respect. The finishing position is all that matters.

The only reason staying up means you may survive longer is that the income is massive at the moment. Collect enough big prizes and it allows a team to invest. Having said that smaller clubs are vulnerable to poaching so stability is a problem.

Are the Jacks established? Possibly.
Are they safe? No.

Honestly, because its what I believe and strongly too, you have done very very well, but thats furthest I believe your club can go.

But you have so far proved all your doubters wrong.

I was having this debate in the pub watching that dross last night. We looked at it as would they be seen as a big fish if they came down? Any established club would in my opinion. Like villa, Sunderland maybe, Newcastle a few seasons ago. An Everton if they did, are West Ham? They you yo a bit? The bottom 10 is like a revolving door with most of the championship who have all been there. Swansea would be nothing in the championship, possibly the same in league 1 which is where they belong at best....

The longer the stay in the safer they are because of the money I agree, but football changes so quickly even a bad run of luck can send semi established teams down.

Spot on.

A few dodgy ref decisions, own goals, freak deflections, injuries, etc., etc., etc. I don't know how chairmen and managers sleep at night to be honest.

Every year for 4 years I prayed Swansea will come back down, but every year they have stayed up, so I guess that makes them pretty "established" in the Premier League right now in all fairness to Syr Huw ap Jenkins (but defo not their egg-loving sycophantic supporters) ;) :(

Re: Would you class the Jacks as

If being near the relegation zone makes a club unestablished then does that mean Newcastle aren't an established club?

Come on, we're lying to ourselves if we think Swansea don't belong in the Premier League.

What a load of bitter delusional nonsense , fact is the longer we stay up the more we will achieve.
Our first season we finished 11th without spending anywhere near what you lot did. topped that with 9th and then 12th , not bad for a little football club hey.
And as for the "that's furthest your club can go " comment , well i know we will just keep proving you wrong . i find your jealousy flattering and that is reason enough alone to know we doing something right ..

Re: Would you class the Jacks as

They deserve to be in the prem league.

We can all be bitter but let's face it we are light yrs away on and off the pitch and it seems a long time before we actually play them again in a league fixture.

We had our chance maintain prem status and we cocked it up... Now we are on a downward spiral and in danger of doing a wolves.....

If we drew them in the cup, unfortunately we are now the underdogs keeping our fingers crossed not to get dubbed, playing the billy big bollocks premier league team. :bluescarf:

FAO Annis. Will there be a poster of the year award this year? If so put this guy down for my vote. His originality is unsurpassed! :laughing6:

Re: Would you class the Jacks as

At the moment they look pretty safe in the Prem, but due to the fact they're a small Prem club stuck in a part of the UK that's stuck out a bit on a limb, will catch up with them and they'll go down, maybe not for a few years yet, but it will happen. Not just saying this cos they're our rivals, but just stating a fact. I'd say the same about us if we were in the same position as them.
