we were better with no £

With bothroyd, chops, Burke, mcnaughton, Ledley, Johnson and Matthews. Would rather watch these players in their prime than the "best team in the campionship". At least we were in blue, played entertaining football at times, worked our socks off and had pride. I miss the players and the stands doing the ayatollah, the half time games and the atmosphere most importantly which is like a shit tennis game. Hopefully these days will be back once again.

Half the team who got pissed before a crucial game we lost to Middlesborough.

People have short memories.

Not in the 70's, 80's, & 90's.

In fact, in the early 80's, we were so skint that our club was made a subsidiary of a civil engineering company, based in Jarrow.

Those old enough will remember.

You could argue both seasons they cost us promotion because of the piss ups. The one year we got a pasting off middlesborough at home the other year they got pissed after beating leicester on penalties.

Never the less that's the best team we've ever had.

Malkys Title winning side had the discipline and fight. Jones had Big names and big egos

I'll never forgive Bothroyd for coming off against Blackpool in the play offs because he didn't want to get injured for his England cap!

Don't get me wrong loved that team. It's why I wouldn't have been gutted if Jones had come back to manage us.
