" Blackpool get first win of the season against a shabby Cardiff team "

Francois Zoko: Grabbed the winner for Blackpool

A Francois Zoko goal was enough to give Blackpool their first Sky Bet Championship win of the season as they beat Cardiff 1-0 on Friday.

Zoko struck just after the hour mark to seal three points for the Seasiders for the first time since last April, 160 days ago, as they defeated managerless Cardiff 1-0 in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Bluebirds now head into the international break in managerial limbo, with prospective boss Russell Slade present at Bloomfield Road but unable to take charge until a compensation agreement is reached with his former club Leyton Orient.

It was the first league defeat for joint caretakers Daniel Gabbidon and Scott Young, who had hoped to sign off with an unbeaten record.

However, in what is likely to be their last match at the helm, they became the first side to be defeated by Blackpool this season on a night when their fans held several demonstrations against the club's owners.

The Seasiders fans, who forced several stoppages to a home game against Burnley in April by invading the pitch and throwing tangerines on to the turf, had earmarked this televised fixture as one to publicly protest against the club's owners, the Oyston family.

Several banners were unfurled prior to kick-off and the relentless chanting early on focused on the fanbase's fury at the handling of the club ever since they dropped out of the top flight in 2011.

Riga had insisted he had to remain focused on events between the white lines - for fear of "no sleep" otherwise - and his team showed lots of attacking intent early on, with Tony McMahon's cross-cum-shot narrowly flying off target and the lively Ishmael Miller going close on two separate occasions.

Cardiff's defending was desperate at times and only Fabio's last-ditch challenge in the area prevented Nathan Delfouneso from pulling the trigger.

Riga's men regained the upper hand after the interval, yet attention soon turned to the stands again as fans poured down to the advertising hoardings - and some on to the pitch - after 53 minutes in their latest show of dissent.

That specifically-timed protest, a nod to the FA Cup's Matthews Final in 1953, did curb Blackpool's stranglehold on proceedings.

Fabio linked well with Ravel Morrison, who was starting for the first time in a Bluebirds shirt, before prodding wide and John Brayford's deflected effort only just missed the target.

However, just as the South Wales side began to turn the screw, the Tangerines claimed a 64th-minute lead on the counter.

David Perkins fed substitute Joel Dielna down the left, and he in turn found Zoko, who shuffled the ball on to his left foot before firing his first Blackpool goal under David Marshall.

Cardiff's managerial duo turned to Adam Le Fondre and Federico Macheda off the bench and the latter should really have equalised but he produced a tame side-footed effort shortly after Zoko's strike.

Blackpool continued to throw bodies in the way, though, and could have doubled their advantage in the 89th minute when Miller lead a breakaway attack. He squared for Delfouneso, who was somehow denied by Marshall from point-blank range.

Yet the visitors failed to capitalise, Le Fondre blazing over in stoppage-time as Blackpool ended their long, long wait for a victory.

Why did the dynamic duo replace Kenwynne with Macheda tonight? when he came on he was ineffective. Also, why was Ravel taken off? I hope these decisions were taken by the dynamic duo and not Slade, because if this is the sign of things to come,God help us.

Hook, line and SINKER!!! The 2 players on the park whom ad the potential to change the game for us, were hauled off!! Kenwyn is working his plums off!! Embarrassing really!! I bet he's thinking, "surely I deserve a partner up top to make a difference"! Morrison tried his best to bridge the gap between midfield and attack, chased arses a bit, tried too hard.
Bet he wishes he hadn't stumbled upon our SHMBLES!!
Surely u would add to our attacking threat and put 2 up top. Pilkington and noone out wide, dog in the middle!!!!
Is it just me......!!!!!!?????? Whittingham needs to drop out of starting 11!! (Gunnarsson also)!
Talk about drifting through games!!!
At first, I was completely underwhelmed with Slade! I now welcome his arrival. I trust he'll bring togetherness, team spirit and ultimately.....f*cking FITNESS!!!

Anyone who thinks Russell Slade can sort out this mess has either got their head up their arse or keeping their heads down  The club are a shambles from top to bottom. Slade will be gone by January, as he won't get the results the Joker at the top requires, it hurts a lot to see the club fall apart like this but it's inevitable, we have to hit rock bottom before we can bounce back up

Fair play, you said this, the minute Slades name was linked with Cardiff City.

Glad someone else has come out with this.

To me the appointment of Slade will be the final nail in the coffin of any support Tan has. I feel the best we can do under him is to avoid relegation.

My initial feeling was, acceptance but, totally underwhelmed with Slade.
I'm now feeling Slade can make a huge difference to our Club, only given a chance. He's the type of character to demand effort, togetherness and ultimately general fitness!! :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

City fans need a figure to take to their hearts. Tan missed that opportunity, he would've been completely Worshipped!!!
Slade represents the type of no nonsense manager we need. Good luck to u, I/we support u all the way.

Son of Malcolm, I will fully back Slade and give him a chance, but I honestly feel Tan has made a massive mistake.
But like I say, Slade will be supported by myself :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Nice to see your positive

Just joshing, I bought the shirt the other day and I'm quite looking forward to it. If Wales can take 4 points ahead of the Belgium match then we're in a strong position.

Spoke to a few Brighton fans who said don't expect performances to pick up under slide. He ruined them, played the worst football they'd ever seen and I don't think he's ever played with anything except a 442

Tan clearly has no clue about football and his repeated lack of respect for our club and it's fans, as well as his constant meddling in team affairs makes my letter to Santa this year a very simple one...please can I have a millstone for Tan's neck?

With Slade's appointment, that's exactly what our club is going to turn into for Tan. He makes noises about selling Cardiff City once we get back into the PL, but we all know this isn't going to happen. He bleats on about how everyone has got him wrong, but they haven't. He's the devil incarnate to us [well, to me anyway, I can't speak for all those fair weather fans that bought into his crass, unwanted changes - cue abuse from all the glory hunters].

He has ruined this once proud club and turned us into the laughing stock we are today. As stated many, many times, he could have had god-like status in this city, but he has treated us with disrespect with his child-like superstition, and lack of understanding of the 115 years of love and support that the people of our great city have bestowed upon OUR club. Get that bit, does he?! It's OUR club! He might be the majority share-holder, but the club belongs to the city of Cardiff and it's inhabitants, and will do so long after he has shuffled off his mortal coil.

Now, he has given a loose grip of one of the reigns to Slade. He has told Slade he can buy players once he has raised funds buy selling players, and come January, with us likely languishing in the bottom half of this division, our better players will be looking elsewhere, in the knowledge that Cardiff are going nowhere. To be replaced by who knows what kind of calibre player.

So I am indifferent to what happens from now on. I certainly hope Slade succeeds, I think it's unlikely. But I won't be overly bothered if he fails. In fact, there's a plus side to his failure. The mill stone that is around Tan's neck grows a little heavier, and the heavier it gets, the closer he gets to selling up, and f*cking off out of it. Free to make a laughing stock of whatever club he turns his attention to. I hear Wrexham already play in red and have a dragon, or better still, pursue the franchise opportunities in the good ol' US of A. They don't give a flying f**k about who owns their clubs.

Dear Santa....

Haha well yeah but realism is boring! Wouldn't be supporting Cardiff if a few problems put me off ;)
