Historical Kit Help

Fri Oct 03, 2014 3:16 pm

I am trying to get what are left of my kit in order for the final clear out and I need some year help.

Can anyone tell me which of the Ken Thorne sponsored years had a yellow second kit that was made by Strike Force?

It was a reverse of the classic Robin Friday kit in yellow with a blue and whit strip.

Cheers.

I thought the same, but the kit manufacture that season was Xara, & was all yellow?

I've just noticed that the Ken Thorne World of Cars logo on my Strike Force shirt is very different to the logo on the blue shirts.

I'm now thinking Ken Thorne may have just sponsored the away shirts a few years earlier. A bit like Brains and CMB Engineering (whatever happened to them)

Checking the historical football site it shows that City kits were made by Errea for one season, 97/98.

Strike force, was this Strika? If so, then one season which was the 94/95.

Strika and Strike Force were different kits.

It looks like it may be 2000. I have just found a tiny version which was my daughters and she was born in 1998.

Its the Barcelona style one that's getting me. Its a bit rare I know that much.

The blue and red CMB one is 100% from the 1997-1998 season as I have a home programme v Slough Town (FA Cup replay) showing photos of City wearing this kit in the first round match at Slough played on Saturday 15th November 1997.

Cheers for this it seems you and Buchanans Exocet agree on the Barcelona shirt being from the 1997/98 season. I didn't know it was only worn once though. I assume it is therefore a third kit.

The club were unhappy with xara away shirt in 2000-01 and went with the retro shirt made by strikeforce

It was first worn against Rochdale away that season

Strikeforce also manufactured our FAW Premier Cup shirt that season

Interesting, & I remember the situation, just couldn't remember the season or the switch from suppliers.

The other clue was KTWOC sponsorship. I couldn't remember them pre Sam.

This is correct, was at Slough Town for the cup game and Wayne O Sullivan scored an equaliser in this shirt with a shot that bobbled up with a deflection and looped in.
