The trusted man in the middle has been victim of some pretty harsh criticism during the beginning of this season. I have to say that I have had great doubts if he's really the one to be dictating the play in midfield. But the recent matches he has been making great improvement, imho. He's looking more confident on the ball, positioning way better in the build up of the play and spreading around some great passes out wide. He still has a way to go with his pressure and intensity when defending, but it's looking slightly better in that regard as well.
Do you think he is improving? Or has he just been blamed for too much in the beginning of this season? Should he be replaced by Eikrem or someone else?

I think the vast improvement is due to movement off the ball for him, if he could just stop being ponderous in possession sometimes he would be the player he was.

Just to be clear we are talking about the Peter Whittingham who scored at Derby and has had assists against both Sheff Wed and Brighton.
And when it comes to defending he gave a pretty good example of how to do that when he took a yellow card for the team against Brighton by clearing Lua Lua out.
In my opinion he is doing fine although most any of our players have room for improvement.

The big KJ gives us loads of good things but mobility isn't one of them.
Ravel and Noone (or Matts) off him like old fashioned inside forwards darting around would really bring out Whitts passing ability in a three man midfield

The pass to Noone to set up Pilkington's goal was world class. He certainly has his moments.

His long ball to Kenwynne for the goal against Brighton was top class. Drew the keeper out, put the CB in an awkward position and allowed Jones to score.
Massive fan of Whitts just he doesn't do the dirty stuff people like to see

No improvement for me. Steve Tucker got it spot on about him in his article today.

Only one other player has put in more tackles than Whitts (10)this season, Fabio with 11. Whitts also has the most bookings with 3. So that sort of flies in the face on your claim he is a player who won't put a challenge in.

At the moment ( results wise ) we are clawing our way out of the shambles that Ole left us with
The football is not pretty and we have been outplayed in nearly all of the games so far
As usual " Peter Whittingham " is the whipping boy on here ....... is it all down to him that we are outplayed so often
What are the other midfield players doing
At the moment there is no midfield player better than him at the club , that could command a place in the side ahead of him
Some players are shot of confidence and not showing enough in games to keep their place when selected
Scott Young and Danny Gabbidon have done well to stop the rot ...... and in my opinion going for stability by using
experienced players such as the likes of Gunnarson and Whitts
Might not be everyone's cup of tea , but necessary at the moment

With his quality if he could do the dirty work he simply wouldn't be at Cardiff City.........
