Newport County dont want him

Fri Oct 03, 2014 7:35 am

Darcy Blake has now even been turned down by Newport County.
Such a waste of talent.

A real shame . Was playing really well for Wales only three years ago.

I heard he'd signed for Merthyr - is that right?

I asked this before on another thread. What has gone so badly wrong for him? drink? gambling? I haven't read anything....
Very sad that such a promising career has possibly gone down the pan.

Some of his friends have not helped the boy.........will they be there when the money runs out ?
He done well down in Plymouth a few years back when he trained hard and got out of a certain circle of friends, came back to us very fit and got into the wales team, playing well, maybe a move to the bright lights of London was not a good move. Hope he can get back to a decent standard of football.

Was speaking to a Newport fan yesterday about him, he said when he played for them last season he was very good.
Strange they don't want him back if that's the case, unless as you say it's his lifestyle off the pitch which is the concern.
Always thought he's a great player to have on the bench as he can cover different positions.shame I have no sympathy tho living a lot of people's dream being a footballer and throwing it away if it is drink, drugs etc.

I know Jermain Eatser through a friend and he was at Palace with with him.

I asked him about Blake and his exact words were "he's a disgrace of a player"

Referring to his diet, drinking, fitness what he was putting up his nose

Yeah, it's been well documented about his social activities. It's a shame. As a poster above said, he just needs to move to a low profile club away from the big city lights where he can knuckle down and focus on his career. His career isn't beyond saving yet. Just hope somebody grabs him by the ears and pulls him into shape. He's a nice lad from my own personal experience of him and as a local boy I'd hate to be playing against him in the Lazarou League in 2-3 years time!

At his age it must surely be in his own hands. Knuckle down its now or never.

He was offered a contract when he impressed JE, after his loan spell, at the end of last season.
Looks like his agent told him to turn it down, and got him a trial at Plymouth with better money if he could prove his fitness.
The rest is history, but have also heard that Merthyr Town want him........What a waste of talent :sad7:

I heard he then went back and asked not long ago and it was then a different story.

Your right what a waste of a talent.

Could well have done?? I'd have him back here tomorrow TBH, but he's obviously got a few demons, and we're not short defenders wise after just signing the jack youngster on loan.
Give me oshilaja any day of the week over tancock btw

I think most City fans would prefer Oshilaja over Sean Morrison as well. Fair play, what a donkey Morrison is.

Cant comment on Morrison, but can on oshilaja. That lad has got one bright future with you as long as he doesn't go down Blakes road to ruin!

Have seen him play for the Development squad and can see the boy got talent. Pretty sure he's in the last year of his contract, will be interesting to see what plans the club have for him. I have friends who are County fans and they also rate Oshilaja highly

What were the Wednesday fans opinions on him?? I know it was a big step up from L2 with us to the championship, but I'd guess that they said favourable things about the lad.

He only made two league appearances for them, so maybe not enough to make a decent judgement on him. He played for us up at Port Vale in the League Cup, I listened to it on Radio Wales and Ratcliffe was very impressed with how he played. Would love to see him and the likes of Harris and Healey given a chance here, but that sadly ain't gonna happen, not this season anyway.

Really hope he finally sorts himself and has a revelation on making the most of his talent whilst he still can. I remember how he shone under Speedo (RIP) vs Montenegro and then that Wembley performance on the following Tuesday when he had Shrek in his pocket.
