Cardiff caretaker duo carry on

02/10/14 sky sports news

Caretaker managers Scott Young and Danny Gabbidon will again take charge of Cardiff at Blackpool on Friday night as Russell Slade continues to wait in the wings.

Slade resigned as Orient manager on September 24 but Cardiff have yet to agree a compensation package with the League One club for the 53-year-old's services.

Young and Gabbidon have overseen a home victory over Sheffield Wednesday and draws at Derby and Brighton in the Championship since taking charge of the team following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's departure two weeks ago.

And Young does not know how long that state of affairs will continue, even if Slade is expected to be confirmed as Cardiff manager before the end of the international break and ahead of the visit of Nottingham Forest on October 18.

"Who knows?" Young said. "We've had conversations again with Tan Sri and the chairman (Mehmet Dalman) and as we stand now we are preparing the team for the Blackpool game as normal.

"We've just been told to continue the job until it changes.

"It's been a tough 12 days, long days, but this is ultimately where we want to be.

"It's come a lot earlier than we thought but we're both quite passionate that this is the road we want to take and we've really enjoyed it.

"We were asked to take charge of this football club for one game, it's rolled on to three and four and we've done okay."

Current player Gabbidon has taken his coaching B licence and says he would like to work with Young again sometime in the future after their spell together at Cardiff.

Why the delay, beginning to get suspicious

I don't know why but I'm just enjoying it more with them in charge. Maybe it's because they know what the fans want, which for me is 100% commitment, they're also bluebirds through and through makes me feel like Cardiff City is being represented by people who actually care. :ayatollah: :bluescarf:
