Morrison & Zaha

Sun Sep 28, 2014 10:18 pm

Everyone is praising Morrison, saying how much of a revelation and what quality he brings to the squad (still only after 1 game). The exact same happened with Zaha on his 1st game, he looked well going forward and got the crowd excited when he was on the ball, let's hope they don't end the same way.

Time will tell.

Morrison completely stole the game on Saturday, everyone could see he was the best player on the pitch by a mile from the minute he came on. Hopefully this will continue. :thumbright:

The difference being that Morrisson didn't try and skill everyone, lose the ball and waste time. He made clear passes, assisted a (legitimate) goal, and had some really decent vision and spatial awareness. But you're right, it has only been a game, let's see how he plays next time.

Agreed, early days but Morrison looked a hell of a player. If he's come here with a point to prove then he could be a real catalyst for our season as we've been crying out for a bit of pace and dynamism :ayatollah:

I agree to a certain extent but Morrison has much more experience at the top level, Zaha didn't when he came to us. Also Morrison IMO has a better all round game. I think that Zaha is a fine player though and some of the criticism he received while with us was unfair - everyone had raised expectations but he could only ever be as good as a very poor team. Zaha was definitely a case of a player moving too soon to a club like United. He would have been better off learning his EPL craft at somewhere like Wigan (or sticking with Palace) before moving to a club like United.

Spot on. Morrison is much further ahead than zaha. But yeah it's early days and there is a reason Morrison isn't playing for west ham if he was as good as people think ( after 30 min) consistently they wouldn't send him on loan. It's west ham not Real Madrid.

So long as you don't look on the positive side of a good debut performance, eh??

I saw more in Morrison in the 20 odd minutes on Sat than the whole of Zaha's time here.
He gave us an outlet we haven't had in the last few years when defending a one goal lead, pace, trickery a threat and excellent ability to spot a telling pass.
I'm not totally carried away as there are obviously issues, so it could go wrong in a blink.
Interesting comments from Harry Redknapp mind who said he never had a moments trouble with him.
I witnessed him winding the other subs up half time on Sat, particularly Macheda, he's obviously a live wire, but fingers crossed.

Zaha came here low on confidence and not in familiar surroundings. Morrison comes here with a cocky arrogant attitude(WHAT WE NEED) whilst being used to this division, examples being playing on loan at QPR last season, playing at Birmingham etc.

Amazing how so many fans are so quick to write off players even after an impact debut

By no means am I writing him off, I agree, he did play well when he came on and got the team playing with passion. But, so did Zaha on his debut, I'm not trying to be negative and that was never the point of this post, but what I'm saying is let's just hope they don't end the same way.
