Cardiff City could be forced to wait for Russell Slade as Leyton Orient stand off continues

Sunday 28th Sept 2014.

As things stand, Slade is unlikely to take the Cardiff City hotseat until after Tuesday night's match against Brighton

Slade sat there yesterday, not in the Directors box and took notes through out the game.

Cardiff City could be made to wait until later next week to appoint a new manager as the Bluebirds' tense stand off with Leyton Orient over Russell Slade continues.

Slade was at Cardiff City Stadium to watch the 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday but he is still no closer to taking the helm at the Welsh club despite resigning as Orient boss last week.

Lawyers from both clubs are locked in discussions after the League One side refused to sanction the 53-year-old's departure despite Cardiff's insistence they have offered the £100,000 compensation fee that should have triggered a release clause in his contract.

Orient have threatened to call on the Football Association over claims Slade was tapped up by the Bluebirds - allegations Cardiff strenuously deny.

WalesOnline understands the two sides are still some way from reaching agreement, with Scott Young and Danny Gabbidon in line to remain in charge for Tuesday night's trip to Brighton.

Cardiff chiefs hope a resolution can still be found in the next 48 hours but that scenario appears unlikely as things stand, with sources at the club saying negotiations could continue until Wednesday or Thursday.

The Bluebirds travel to Blackpool on Friday night for their final match ahead of the international break.

Slade arrived in Cardiff on Thursday morning following his decision to walk out on Orient and has been holding discussions with Bluebirds chiefs in the last few days.

He emerged as the unlikely successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after former England coach Glenn Roeder recommended him for the job.

It remains to be seen whether Roeder himself could have a role to play, with Vincent Tan thought to be considering introducing a director of football role.

Is it possible he could be appointed tomorrow because this is getting ridiculous now.

I expect him to be in for Blackpool, then.

No harm in waiting, and hopefully Gabbidon and Young will keep up their good league form in charge on Tuesday :ayatollah:

Let's hope the stand off lasts long enough that someone at the club with half a brain cell has time to think there are better managers out there

Why are these managers better than slade?

If Slade is the definite target, this period of "stand-off" is little more than Orient posturing. It will also have very little effect on the players because they are already in a state of limbo and to know the new boss is hanging around making notes will boost their motivation (as I believe it did against Wed).

I feel that the club has already entered a period of adjustment so this delay will not prevent progress to be made unduly.

Because they have managed in our division, gained promotions, worked with big squads costing big money and can be seen by the fans to take the club up.

All things Slade has never done

Oh and to add with Slade comes Roeder which is another negative

I am really looking forward to it. Honestly as much as the clap :laughing6:

On a brighter note 23 years of experience Slade has in the lower division will serve us well when we are back there :laughing6:

The worst thing that can happen, seen from Slade´s side of it, is that we´re winning the next two matches with the interim management at charge. That will for sure build up pressure on him, and just imagine what will happen if he looses his first game.. I don´t think the fans will hesitate much before they start to demand having Young/Gabbidon back.
