Vincent Tan wants Russell Slade to have Scott Young as his number two, which will please many City fans, Slade is happy to have Young in his coaching set up but has asked for Kevin Nugent to be his assistant once his own position has been finalised.
Tan is looking at what has happened at Swansea with Garry Monk and believes this is something Cardiff City should be doing by promoting from within.

Yeah would rather Nugent as the no2, so Young can still learn(if Slade does fail/leaves)

If Tan has chosen Slade which might be against a lot of City fans let him do the job which means let him pick his own staff

I'd go with Tan's plan, on this occasion.
Not often I say that!!
Get Nugent in as a coach by all means, but Scott as number two for me.

Still early days for monk, but he has come through a regime where they have stuck to a certain style for many years. Plus he's learnt under he likes of Martinez and Rodgers. You can't even begin to compare young to these circumstances.
Tan really worrying me now. He seems to think he understands football.

Mate, i think Carl means Tan managing,Slade assistant and Young carrying the kit

I think id rather see Gabbidon more involved to be honest but if we appoint any manager he has to be allowed to bring in his own right hand man.

Bring in Nugent as No.2 and get Youngy far more involved as a learning process!
That way, if he shows promise, he can be in a position to step into the hot seat at the right time (which 100% isn't right now!)

Totally agree. Swansea's style has been implemented and monk just had to carry on. We have to start from scratch..

Monk is one thing but Scott Young!!! Wasn't he sacked by Port Talbot? And his reaction following Wednesday's defeat tells us all about his man management.

don't won't young anywhere near the first team if i'm honest
Sat Sep 27, 2014 6:59 am
Agree young is awfull and failed at port hand port talbot

Young comes across an egotistical maniac, the way he put down Guerra is beyond a joke, the guy has no respect for others and I hope he gets kicked in the face by a football

Is it true that it is Sam H that has advised Tan on appointment of Slade ?

The theory of building an internal managerial coaching structure, and a philosophy within the club I believe is right thing to do and I appreciate we need to start somewhere.
I am of the opinion that we may be building on faulty foundations with Slade and Young, if Young showed any promise as a manager coach or a number two he would be in that roll elsewhere by now.
football generally is a very closed shop with everybody knowing everyone else and Know Youngs capabilities and what he could bring to a club
Tan should have enough confidence to allow Slade, as manager ( albeit his 2nd choice manager, Hartley was his first?) to develop his own philosophy and coaching staff to build a proper foundation, not throw two people together, who may or may not gel.
This is not an Anti Scott Young just a reality check of the heart ruling the head

I'm not impressed by Young making Guerra and Kim scapegoats, I thought management was about protecting you team. Another bad decision Slade should not be told who is on his coaching staff
Sat Sep 27, 2014 8:31 am
I like the idea of someone 'like' Young being brought in but I'm far from convinced he's the right guy for it.

I agree,,,you can't make people work together. Maybe this is the stumbling block why Slade has not been officially appointed,,,yet?

So he makes a good decision that makes sense and is still slated?
Young has been here for many years working with the youngsters who hopefully will step up into the first team squad.

Following Youngs comments in singling out two under-performing players (who are not match fit) in a team of under-performing players shows how so very far Young has to go before he should be allowed anywhere near coaching, at any level. So I hope he leans very very fast. I can't see how Kimbo or Guerra (or the other players for that matter) can respect him after publicly singling out players as Young did.
So I don't think it's a good idea to have him as a number 2 at this stage.
Sat Sep 27, 2014 9:41 am
Scott Young needs to go away and do a shedload of man management courses and when he has done that give him 6 months managing the matchday stewards.
I have no problem with Nugent coming in and in fairness to Russell Slade he will need to hit the ground running and surely doesn't need the added problem of getting his ideas across to an assistant who let's face it has minimal experience. Gabbidon would be a much better choice in my opinion, a better player who has played at a much higher level than SY and most important of all has vastly superior man management skills.
But this is Tan Land so what the egomaniac says is pretty much how it will go.

Not so long ago Scott Young was sacked by Port Talbot........!!!!!!!! spare me please
Sat Sep 27, 2014 1:38 pm
I personally do not want Scott Young anywhere near our new management team. I hope he goes back to coaching the youngsters at Academy level. I see again that Guerra is not on the bench. It is ridiculous how the best striker at the club cannot get a place in the match day squad. Young was out of order in blaming Guerra and Kim the other night, as there were worse players out there. Gabbidon was poor but Young didn't say anything about him. We do not need anyone from the Malky or Solskjser regiemes getting involved with the next manager set up. When there are people from previous regimes around under new management then the players who did not play much or were not liked tend not to get another chance under the new management team. So i say let Slade bring his own people into the club, so that players like Guerra, Kim, Maynard, Dickagcoi and even McNaughton and Mason, can get the chance to show the new manager what they can do, as in my opinion they can all offer us something to our team. Even though they had not been given enough chances under our previous regime, let alone the new one. It would be an absolute travesty if Guerra does not feature for us from now until January and then he leaves to return to Spain permanently. Especially as Guerra has the class, the talent, the link up play and the goalscoring ability to score us a load of goals that will take us back to the Premiership.
Bloooooobirds.

Slade was at the game today, he was up on the 4th floor, Kevin Nugent
Is his number two.
