Embarrassing?

Fri Sep 26, 2014 12:17 pm

I’ve been reading the forum the last week or so thinking what have our fans become. I’m not going anymore.....Enough is enough......Crisis....Laughing stock etc etc

Rebrand aside as that happened years ago it’s as if our fan base have all become soft, a few bad results and a manager sacked (who most wanted sacked anyway) and just because they can’t have the manager they want it’s all doom and gloom. Christ this happens at lots of club every season yet when it happens to us we are a laughing stock according to a lot of people on here. We have been a laughing stock for not standing up against the rebrand I agree but us struggling at the moment is just football, it’s like our fans have all become spoilt brats demanding this, demanding that.

Admittedly Slade wouldn’t be my choice but if/when he is appointed I will give him a chance to prove me and the others wrong :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Congratulations on picking the single isolated incident of the manager, sorry "coach & yes man", appointment and thinking that is the only reason people may have had enough.

You really don't see the sense in this post?

Perhaps you should lie down in a dark room as your affinity seems to be with forum posting rather than football.

Great post, spot on :ayatollah:

They didn't seem to mind when we were winning the Championship and beating Man City :bluescarf: :thumbright:

Oh I see the sense in the post, Dave. Its a forum and that what it was set up for as is the process of reply and counter reply.

What I am disagreeing with is the opinion many have that people are purely reacting to the single issue of a poor run of form that culminates in the change of manager.

There seems to be a slightly larger group that are now speaking out over the clubs situation and this can only be as a result of MANY, MANY issues that have come together to create the perfect storm.

All things being equal, the change of manager is but an annoyance for us all to get over.

But this is not just the change of manager is it. We actually have a coach coming in, followed by a DoF. We now have a structure that gives an owner, with no knowledge of football, direct access to team changes.

We have yes men in place who are just happy to have been given the chance or a way back I to football.

I hope it all works but the whole decision making process and structure of the club. Is totally at odds with the game I knew so well.

I again understand the point of the OP but it is ignoring the glut of wrong decisions that the club has made over the last few years.

I hate long posts.

Wayne, I think the OP makes a valid point and I actually wrote something similar earlier today, but decided (twice) not to submit it because of the inevitable reaction it would get from those who think the current situation (and all the other ills of the club) is genuinely linked to the colour change

It isn't; it's just down to an unfortunate choice of manager after Malky (as we now know) simply HAD to go! :(

People will have "had enough" for many reasons, but (as usual) will 'link' their decisions to the red/blue or the owner or the manager or the lack of atmosphere, etc. etc. rather than admitting the real truth, which will often be far away from what is admitted

I have a guy living near me (an occasional poster on this Forum) who told me he'd "had enough and was knocking it on the head" after this season because he "wished he'd stood up against the red at the beginning" and "the club have gone backwards in recent years and it's time to make a statement!"

"Very noble of you", I said "except that the club are still alive thanks to Tan and he has hardly taken us backward on the playing front, even if you consider our sojourn into the Premier League a complete failure" (which I personally don't) "and if you genuinely feel that things are so bad you cannot watch/support them anymore, why don't you have the courage of your convictions and stop right now rather than the end of the season"

His reply (quote): "Well, I've paid for my season ticket and it would be a waste of money if I just stopped going right now, but I definitely won't renew next season!" :?

I didn't agree, but I thought "Your decision!" until I bumped into him and his wife earlier this week and she said to me "Bloody right he won't be going next season. I've told him he can't. Not every game anyway. I (not we) want to move house and he's not having a season ticket at those prices!"

Now, who do I believe?? Well, let's just say the red faced one as they walked off wasn't wearing the trousers in that particular household! LOL

I honestly believe it has nothing to do with the results fans are leaving in there droves. It's down in my opinion to the Soul less Club we have become. From the top down to the Fans. Personally I don't give a shit we are struggling I care about the Club we have become.

Well said.

Whenever I think of cardiff city fans now I automatically picture them using the phrases

"Laughing Stock" (this one gets used at least twice per hour)
"No Clue" (slightly less. once per hour perhaps)
"wrong man for the job" (about ANYBODY who isn't Tony Pulis)

Looking through facebook and twitter, most of our own bloody fans think we're "a joke of a club" and the answer to that's fairly simple... If we're that much of a joke, stop coming down, stop posting, pick another club to "support" because you're not doing anything for us.

"boycotting" or just not attending matches etc. yeah, that's your prerogative, and I can understand the reasons why you'd do it but we need more positivity, online and down the CCS as well... it's honestly like sitting in a massive library at times.

You can choose to not come down and support in person... but the amount of people saying our club is shit shouldn't include our own bloody fans. We're not Liverpool, Chelsea, man city... and I wouldn't want to be... we've got a manager coming in who may or may not be the man to get us back on our feet but we shouldn't be slagging him off before he has a chance to show us what he can do.

You can say it's down to the soulless club all you like... but the soul ripping happened years ago, why is it we're only seeing fans leaving now if not because of the results?

Re: Embarrassing?

Top post, Its becoming an easy excuse not to go now.

I dont see how (personal life aside) you can dictate under what circumstances you support our club. I get how finance and family priorities can overtake our club, but not liking a chairman, or how the club is run shouldnt be one. If that was the case Leeds wouldnt have a fan in the ground for the last 10 years, You could throw in a good few more clubs aswell, id say about 20 professional clubs. Most well known probably Man Utd, Liverpool, Birmingham, Leeds

The irony is that "most clubs" (whoever they are :? ) don't think we are an "embarrassment" anymore than they do any other club or its fans away from the week they are playing us!

In all reality, they are no more genuinely interested in us than we are in them and some (not that many in reality) of our own fans need to realise the only embarrassment usually comes from within!

Re: Embarrassing?

At the end of the day people people will do and say as they want, and that's what the forum is all about. We dont have a lot to cheer about at the moment and its understandable people can be negative but lets not use previous issues/annoyances to have a go at the club over the management issue.

People say its a build up of things but the managerial issue for me isnt a reason to not be supporting a club, this happens at many clubs.

Its not a case of being positive or negative but for me to give Slade a chance. Would it surprise me if he is gone in 10 games? no. But it wouldnt surprise me if we go on a winning run now? no. Its a hell of a risk but its whats happening so lets support the mananger and see what happens.

Re: Embarrassing?

Luke, I made a post on the back of the Tuesday game. But I did say it wasn't based on just that game. I did suggest that the distance and exile was a telling factor.
I haven't attended a home game since Leicester the season we went up.
And after that game I commented on how i couldn't watch Cardiff play at home in that shirt.
There were times when I wouldn't miss a single minute of a match, whether I was in attendance or listening to it on Radio.

I didn't listen to that match,I have missed many lately where normally I wouldnt.

Having Kids has obviously altered my perspective on certain things,Cardiff City was my first love. And I will never forget her.
But she doesn't look or act the way I know her... She used to be a stunner, now she is a Propper munter
