Leyton Orient claim Cardiff tapped up manager Russell Slade
CARDIFF'S plans to appoint Russell Slade have stalled.

Russell Slade quit his job at Orient but is yet to join Cardiff.
The 53-year-old resigned as Leyton Orient manager on Wednesday in order to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Bluebirds boss, and held talks with the Cardiff hierarchy on Thursday.
But Orient have placed the matter in the hands of their lawyers and are considering calling in the FA, claiming Slade was illegally tapped up by Cardiff.
It means Slade will not be in the Cardiff dug-out for Saturday's Championship meeting with Sheffield Wednesday.
Instead stand-in coaches Danny Gabbidon and Scott Young will take this morning's pre-match media conference and be in charge against the Owls.
Cardiff allege Slade was forced to resign because Orient were unwilling to let him speak to Cardiff despite the Welsh club triggering a £100,000 release clause in his contract.
Slade, meanwhile, has called in the League Managers' Association, claiming he was being constructively dismissed at Orient, with his job openly offered to other managers.

Hello all, I am a Leyton Orient fan living in Cardiff & would like to share my thoughts with Bluebird fans.
I am sad, as are most O's fans to lose Russ. He was very popular & by & large his 4 years were good ones for the club, transforming us from perennial League 1 strugglers to Championship contenders. He deserves a crack at managing a bigger club.
He was treated poorly by our owners & it seem to me that he should have been replaced when they took over in the summer as he was never their man.
His strengths are that he is a good motivator & is respected by players & fans alike. He comes across as a decent man. He is likeable, passionate & hard working. He has many years of managing clubs eg Grimsby, Brighton, Yeovil, the O's. He was until a few days ago, the 4th longest serving manager in the four divisions, behind Wenger, Tisdale & Yates.
I think he will reach out to City fans.
His weaknesses are that he is unproven at your level but we all have to start somewhere! Some O's fans think he is tactically naive.
I anticipate that many of you are disappointed & somewhat bemused by Tan's choice as quite reasonably you expected a bigger name. All you can do is to give Russ a chance, get behind him & hopefully he can turn things around as he did at the O's
I really hope he succeeds for 2 reasons - I am a Slade fan & also want the club in my home city to do well.
Good luck for the rest of the season & if you don't go up, would live to be playing you next season.

Of course all the fans will get behind him. Just like they have done when a new manager arrives.

Judging by most post on here he has been dammed before hes even got the job ,I'm postive that we could have a gem on our hands !

I met Russell a couple of times when I was living in Grimsby and he was the manager.Came across as very down to earth and did very well there on pretty much a zero budget.Grimsby town were the smallest team in the league but had the reputation of being the hardest working
He seems to have got the best out of the small squads hes worked with so working with our huge (too big in my oipinon)squad will definetly be a different challenge.
I personally feel hes earnt his chance to manage at this level and honestly believe hell do well for us
welcome to Cardiff Russell

Fair enough only time will tell though.
To say its only negative is a tad unfair. Most are not happy with the appointment of Slade specially as Pullis was available but they are willing to give him a go. One or two are claiming we will get relegated but that is their opinion just like your opinion is he will be a gem.

Let's hope he is left alone to work with the team, he needs to pick his strongest 11 and stick to it...that may take a few weeks but a consistent team should be the aim ...we have such a huge squad and that is not always a good thing but I hope he sorts things out...I will give him a fair chance to achieve his and our goals

Hope the players are out to impress the new manager on Saturday and put in a big team performance. Praying they haven't got the same attitude as a lot of our fans on here and other Cardiff messageboards about slades appointment lol be 6 down before half time if that's the case

My concern with this appointment is the attitude of the players.
If their attitude is "show us your medals" then he has an uphill struggle before he starts.
He may be a good manager at league 1 & league 2 level , but this has the feel of wrong manager at the wrong club again.
Hope I'm wrong.

Think It will be sorted by Monday, Rest of this season and 2 more seasons contract wise, will BACK him all the way!

,
Though a key season for us, Playoffs at least, or his job will be cut short, so big pressure on Slade to do well, differents is will get a wage of 250.000 to 350,000 a year, with a Promotion bonus of around 700,000 if go up this year!
Tan I guess is just fed up of paying off managers huge amounts, which In his view failed
Come on Tomorrow

Good post! As usual, Bluebirds fans will rally around the boss.
The only thing that made me slightly uneasy was Gabb's reply to a question about Slade. However, Andy Legg was very positive and he's worked with Slade so looking good!

My View will be made public by Tuesday, Football league want this sorted ASAP
