' Cardiff City fans need a reality check? Says '

Thu Sep 25, 2014 7:52 pm

My View
So why was Francesco Becchitti ready to sack Russell Slade?
Their club went public to the media and in the match day programme
Yet as soon as City showed interest, their attitude changed? Compensation?
Personally I have nothing but praise for what Slade has achieved with No money in the lower divisions :thumbright: :thumbright:

Cardiff City fans need a reality check, these are former Orient chairman Barry Hearn's words.

Media Wales
Thurs Sep 25, 2014

Boxing promoter, turned football chairman, Barry Hearn says Cardiff City fans need to get a reality check after comments he's seen online.

But are Cardiff City fans all against the appointment of the ex Leyton Orient manager and are they being unrealistic in asking for a bigger name?

Wales online Poll
32% Say Yes 68% Say No

What Barry Hearn said...

“It’s time for some people down there in Wales to have a reality check. Solskjaer was a big name... and look what happened there.”

“We had a £1.8million budget, amongst the smallest in the league, and he got me within a kick of getting up to that level.”

“You’ve clearly got a group of players who are under-performing down there and he is the man to turn that around.”

Thought Barry Hearn sold Leyton Orient. :?

Hearn's not even chairman anymore, the club got sold to some Italians in the summer, he's honorary president or something now.

The words I saw which instantly drew me in.. 'Reality check'.

I haven't posted for a few days because I been just reading over a lot of supporters views over social media and on here. To be honest with you I am disgusted with the attitude of the supporters of this club.. a majority. Embarrassing tweets on Twitter of our supporters already writing off Russell Slade. The guy hasn't even got the job yet. All down to the Premier League, lot of our fans think were bigger than what we really are. I back the appointment of any manager because they are walking into our club regardless of high payment, transfer backing they still want to be charge and want to do something with our club which I support and love.

I read since the rebrand came about 'Tradition over success' I now see that view as the biggest load of nonsense because I haven't been strong viewed on backing the blue as some people yet them people who are.. are the ones complaining about the manager, the future and path of this club wondering what's next and are worried about possible relegation yet 'League 2 over being in red'. That view is a pure delusional lie to me the things I have read.

Yes we do need a reality check, yes I am sad and I did back Ole because everyone deserves a chance yet I have received abuse on here, twitter, facebook and for what? To want someone who is employed and works for the club.. represents the club to succeed and it just shows the attitude of some which is disgraceful. I haven't supported the club as long as a lot of people.. a thousand people but yet it seems I with a minority seem to wants to back whoever is managing the team. I watched us under Malky and I have walked out of games like Burnley home march 2012? We drew 0-0 on Sunday and my word the football, the whole day just dumb and gloomy but I would still back Malky.. I have knocked him but I always expected him to mix things up from time to time like a master class 4-0 performance which he did do in the 2012/2013 season. I have criticised him since he left down to an overall view of he was, what he wanted to do, how he played. But I still backed him despite the dire football on times. But now it's come to the point where a manager hasn't officially got the job has been written off down to being a league lower. Some even saying 'he's another yes man' yet Annis once met him and had a conversation and never backed the rebrand and got involved so this yes man is a load of tosh.

If he is appointed I won't be disappointed because I will back anyone who will manage by club and try and do the best they can. The guy has left his own job from LO which I assume he does really want the job? I thought we backed the likes of Conway, Gunnarsson, Hudson because they want to be here and give 100% which what Slade appears to be and wants to give here. I like the guy just for the fact he is excited by the challenge and wants the chance to prove himself. What happened to appreciating someone who wants to be here and will do anything? Because I do remember the attitude of a lot of fans who liked that, backed that even sung the praises to the roof tops.

If Slade gets the job I will be happy and will give him the chance.

Of course he's going to want to come here?. Prob twice the pay day? Stadium, league status, training facilities, players, fan base etc....

It's not wrong for some of us to have our concerns with this appointment, even orient fans are baffled!! His c.v. Isn't really great.. He's hovered around leagues 1 and 2 and a stint in non league, plus in 20 yrs he's never won promotion... Hence why so many fans are concerned whether he will get the respect from the players if he can't even get the respect from the fans!

Yes they are reasons but at the end of the day they still want to manage the club?

Missing the point? REALITY CHECK.

We have money to maybe pull at people we wouldn't of dream of coming to the club but hard ball we aren't big and everyone deserves a chance. We should back anyone who wants to work here and take the job. Malky won s**t all. Not full of experienced but we took the chance. David Moyes is a prime example. Everton ain't the biggest club but they always back anyone despite name or success which I thought we done but the attitude of some fans is a lot different. Also how do we know Pulis will get respect off everyone? Everything is gamble in Football.

To the point the attitude to a lot of supporters is disgusting and it shows success is over tradition or to be fair on the same wave length.

Fair point, but I disagree with some of the above... Pulis has already proven what he can do with an average stoke team that maintained prem league status and top half of table and an 11th place finish with a shit palace team....

Prior to our malky appointment when we had Whitley and.co doing the recruitment we had all sorts of managers with good reputations lined up, interviewed and spoken too more than once. They believed in malky and turned down various managers. I believe hughton and di Matteo were spoken too if I'm not mistaken... Hughton went else where and lead his team to promotion and di Matteo won the champs league....

This time we haven't interviewed anyone, just jumped in two footed for a unproven journey man...

He will get my support of course as will anyone who takes charge but it doesn't stop us forming an opinion and a concern as paying fans...

Because I do remember the attitude of a lot of fans who liked that, backed that even sung the praises to the roof tops.

If Slade gets the job I will be happy and will give him the chance.

I believe Russel Slade is an ambitious manager and will do his uttermost to use Cardiff city's squad and resources to good effect ,lets be honest he seems as hungry for success as we the fans do.

Lets get behind him and look forward to climbing the table, as i certainly believe if you have a hungry manager you have a hungry team, overall i dont think for one moment Russel Slade is as bad as a signing as some people are making out!. :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:
