' No agreement between Solskjaer and Tan '

Wed Sep 24, 2014 9:59 pm

From today´s VG (my translation):

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (41) will not talk about the dramatical break with Cardiff before he has reached agreement with club owner Vincent Tan.

It was last week that Solskjaer departed from the Welsh Championship club. He got 259 days as manager, which contained relegation from the Premier League and a sad 17th place in the Championship after eight points in seven matches.

It´s a part of the agreement between Solskjaer and Tan that the departure – apart from what was said in the official statement – shall not be commented on before the parts have agreed on a final settlement.

- Ole Gunnar is eager to speak to the press, but he will keep his part of the deal, says Jim Solbakken, who is Solskjaer´s personal adviser.

He does not want to speculate on when the final settlement will be made.

From what VG understand, it could take time. In worst case, several months. For the moment, lawyers appear to be taking care of the negotiations. According to what VG knows, there are still parts of the deal yet to be agreed upon.

Wales Online reported last week that Solskjaer negotiated with Chairman Mehmet Dalman about an approximately 3 million pound compensation.

In the official statement after the break with Cardiff, Solskjaer said he regret that he and the club had different philosophy and therefore he had decided to step aside.

From what VG understands, Solskjaer and his wife Silje with their three children have moved back to their villa in Kristiansund where he is awaiting his next move.

He appears not to have lost his desire for continuing his managing career after the failure in Cardiff. Rather on the contrary. Solskjaer appears to be more inspired and motivated than ever.

After the news about Solskaer´s departure came out one week ago, the downfall has continued for Cardiff. The club´s temporary manager Scott Young rages after the embarrassing loss for Championship fellows Bournemouth in the liga cup on Tuesday.

3 million in compensation? :o

He's got a f*cking nerve.

One of the worst managers ever at Cardiff City who was getting worse by the day.

Like bankers who make huge losses and still get their ridiculous bonuses, football management is a gravy train where abject failure gets rewarded with payments the rest of us can only dream about.

And Ole being investigated? I did wonder why we were buying so many players with Molde connections or who were represented by the same agent as Ole.

Is it any wonder why we are about to appoint a manager that has hardly spent a penny in last few season! It's seems we have been taken to the cleaners by our last two managers!

Appointing a manager for financial rather than football reasons is potentially a recipe for disaster.

Does Tan manage his other businesses in such a lax manner?

Does he not keep a very close eye on finances, particularly after the concerns over the Malky and Moody dealings?

Yet another example of Tan being clueless when it comes to the business and culture of football.

Yes but ole probably didnt want to leave. If Tan sacked him he probably would have got more. Same reason why he told Malky to resign because he wouldnt have to pay as much (i could be wrong though)

Both Malky and Ole being alledgedly investigated for financial irregularities. I said it tongue in cheek but business is all about finance! If you don't look after the money you are fcked. Tan is going for the 'head coach role' so he has full control over the money and transfers. The way ole and Malky have spunked dough left right and centre you can understand why he wants to control the purse strings. For the record I would not have chosen Slade, I would have gone for Pulis or maybe hughton or Clarke. The clubs choice of manager is a strange one, espcially as the appointment of Ole back fired so spectacularly. I have very little faith in Roeder and Slade but time will tell I guess. For me the appoinents are gambles. What we need now is a safe pair of hands and experience. I wish Slade all the best and hope the club have got it right but I have my doubts.

I am not claiming that there is anything underhand, but when a manager buys or borrows a player who uses the same agent as the one he uses it is that much harder to demonstrate that there are not any other influences. There have been claims that managers have influenced young players in their choice of agent.

FIFA could significantly improve transparency if they ruled that agents should not represent both players and managers/coaches within the same club.

Norwegian football is not a big commercial product like most of you guys are used too. We sell few players out of the country so there is no no market for hundreds of agents here.
We got maybe 3-5 high profile agents so when a new "future star" like Dæhli comes along he ofcourse goes to the agent who has most connections outside of Norway.

Jim Solbakken is known to have a huge network so many Norwegian players use him to make sure they get the best deal for themselfes. And if you just thought a little about where Ole came from it should not come as a surprise that we bought 3 players from his old club.

Wolf and Dæhli were coached by Solskjær in Man United. He brought them to Molde and then here. But yeah, it sucks that Ole bought a player like Dæhli from Molde, we should give him away for free because of the connections.

There are 45 Norwegian players in other leagues than the Norwegian.

Of those 11 play in Bundesliga, PL or Championship. The rest are in teams on Iceland, Denmark, Saudi Arabia and even teams like Ebbsfleet and 2 in Non league.

That should give you guys a little insight as to why so "many" Norwegian players got the same agent. There just aint no market for Norwegian football anymore.
