My main concern is that why historically, no other club in a situation like ours has engaged him to ultimately be an impact manager to regain immediate promotion to the PL? For me, you have to get a proven pair of hands and if this decision/recomendation to VT is being driven by Dalman then I have zero confidence. We simply need a proven pair of hands with a track record of doing what we need. Pulis, Hughton or Lennon in that order for me. To be honest, the decision making in this process is like the blind leading the blind. The answer to our problem is more obvious than a bulldogs-bollocks.

I mentioned a day or so back that we got Jimmy Scoular after he was sacked by Bradford P.A. who like Newport were always a club trying to avoid having to seek re-election to the Football League. Think most supporters who have been around a while would agree that he turned out to be one of our best ever managers. Big names don't guarantee success. Have to realise that Slade (if he comes to us) will be inheriting a bunch of overpaid posers, and it may take more than a kick up the arse to get some of them actually earning their wages.

Mark, I'm an old fashioned football purist and would love an old fashioned solid football manager to lead us, even if he was relatively unknown. I feel that given our profile and current situation, we cannot take risks on the unknown, just like what we saw with OGS. For me, Pulis now as I fear we are running out of time and we just dont have the luxury of taking any more risks.

You may well be proven to be right. We can only live in hope. I always think every club takes a risk when appointing a new manager (Man U immediately springs to mind), and I honestly think there's an element of luck involved with any manger in that he needs to suit the players he inherits, which means being in the right place at the right time. Derby took Brian Clough from Hartlepool I think, and look how he turned around their fortunes. I am probably being optimistic, but I would love this bloke to become a City legend. Time will tell.
