Dont know if you attended the game or not, but it was plain to see we were way off the pace, was painful to watch.

Just one of the many reasons we are poor I'm afraid.
You don't have to be an expert to notice that most of our players are blowing out of their arses from the hour mark onwards.
And every time there's a break in play even for a few seconds they go running like a bunch of girls to the touchline for a refreshing sports drink. God knows why, most of them haven't expended any energy anyway.

Deluded - How does fitness come into it when we change the team from game to game - some people need to see we have NO vision to where we are going.

It's one of the many, many reasons. A contributing factor.

We don't have to experts to see how unfit a lot of ours players are, I've seen fitter players playing Sunday league over trelai!

Everyone was an expert on how "unfit" Medel was last year, yet his performances for Chile or the fact that one of Europe's biggest club went on to sign him didn't seem to suggest that, rather that he was playing with a team players that weren't at his level all season.

Having played sport at a decent semi pro level I can tell you lots of our players are not fit. If you are just 10% off the required fitness level as the game goes on you get tired, lose pace and most importantly concentration.
You use pre season to build up a level of basic fitness that can carry you through the season and pre season matches to get you match fit.Five a side football and shooting practice may have been popular with the players, but they should have been doing stamina and sprint training.........its hard to do it mid season and could take us 6-8 weeks or even longer to get to a decent level.........plus you sacrifice coaching sessions to do it.

There are objective ways to find out how fit the players are. I would have liked to see some number on oxygen intake.
