Leyton Orient
Club statement regarding Russell Slade
Mon 22nd Sept 2014
On Friday morning we were contacted by a lawyer close to Cardiff City and Russell Slade, who asked us to give permission for Cardiff to talk to Russell. That evening Russell asked the club for permission to talk to Cardiff. On Saturday the general manager of Cardiff approached us in order to again ask permission to talk to Russell. In all cases, we denied Cardiff the permission and we did not authorise Russell to talk to Cardiff.

Seems like Russell wants to talk, so obviously he´s interested in a move (just imagine the raise in income for him..) But why do they insist on keeping a manager how wants to leave? Strange.

If Slade has assurances he will get the job he will just resign , I'm surprised they refused permission though considering last week he had 1 game to save his job unless they are trying to get some more £££ out of us

Yes they are. Sacking him one week then desperate to keep him when he's a wanted man.
It'll cost us.

They won't get money the way they are going as he will just resign and be owed nothing.
I really hope we move on from this target though....

Imagine we got charged for tapping up Russell Slade?
That would be more embarrassing than actually appointing Russell Slade

Why are we going for him? If Tan didn't have a clue about football, then surely he would go for a higher name profile than the manager of f*cking Leyton Orient. He must know/have people who know a thing or two if he's not going for higher.

I can understand Orient wanting to keep their manager, but they had a funny way of expressing commitment to him when results weren't going their way very recently. Poor treatment of an encumbent boss can only cause a lack of motivation and result in upsetting the club from inside out. It's a dangerous game to play.

We're not tapping him up. We've asked Orient to speak to him. All above board.

He can't just resign, can he?
Well, what I mean is, he can, but Leyton Orient can enforce the contract and put Slade on gardening leave, preventing him from taking on other work.
Or am I wrong?
God I hope I'm not wrong.
