The fight was branded 'ridiculous' as one of the football hooligans attempts to barge a 'Wally' - and fell flat on his face
This video shows why a drunken brawl was branded 'ridiculous' in court - as a group of Manchester United fans attacked a fancy dress stag party dressed as 'Where's Wally?'
Reds supporter John Eyre, his sons Jack and Rhys Eyre, and their pal Ross Hunter crossed paths with revellers dressed as the famous children's book character on their way home from a game, Manchester Crown Court heard.
CCTV footage released by the Crown Prosecution Service captured the bizarre fracas on the travelators at the city's Piccadilly train station, the Manchester Evening News reports.
The parties were travelling in opposite directions on travelators linked to platforms 13 and 14 when they began taunting each other.
After leaning over the handrail to push one of the ‘Wallies’, John Eyre got off the moving walkway his family were on, barged his rival and fell flat on his face in ‘ridiculous’ fashion', the court heard.
Mr Eyre’s sons then ran down to join the fray. Jack Eyre began attacking members of the rival ‘Wally’ group with a crutch and a mass brawl erupted on both escalators in front of commuters, Phil Dobson, prosecuting, said.
John Eyre, 46, Jack Eyre, 22, Rhys Eyre, 17, and Ross Hunter, 17, all of Chesterfield, admitted affray.
Stephen Hargreaves, 54, of Radcliffe, Gtr Manchester, who was in the 'Wally’ group, was found guilty of affray at trial.
